One Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer felt confident enough that the RPG would be a success that they bet someone at the game's publisher 33 baguettes that it would sell 1 million copies in a week. That ended up happening, and now the developer, Aliona Baranova, wants her bread.

At Emerald City Comic Con 2026, Baranova--the game's performance and motion capture director--said she "knew" that Expedition 33 would be a hit. She raised the stakes, too, with a bread bet.

"I made a bet with someone called Jack who's on the Kepler [Interactive] publishing team that it would sell a million copies in the first week. I made a bet and the bet was to win 33 baguettes. Yeah? Jack, where are my baguettes?" she said, as reported by GamesRadar.
