Final Fantasy 14 is adding a job that fans have been waiting for since before the Dawntrail expansion's launch, with a character class that hearkens back to Final Fantasy 5.

Final Fantasy 14 adds multiple jobs with each expansion, usually with a prominent NPC using them in the main storyline. The Dawntrail expansion added the Pictomancer, a ranged magic class that creates different effects by painting pictures, and the Viper, a dual-wielding sword class that fights at melee range, unleashing powerful combos in battle.

Final Fantasy 14's 7.5 patch, known as Trails to the Heavens, launches on April 28, 2026. It's here that the Beastmaster job will be finally added to the game, letting players capture and control monsters in battle.

Like the Blue Mage, the Beastmaster is considered a limited job, meaning it's better-suited for solo play. The idea is that the player defeats certain monsters to recruit them and can summon them to use their unique abilities, with three active in battle.

Like the Blue Mage, the Beastmaster is considered a limited job, meaning it's better-suited for solo play.

The Beastmaster job debuted in Final Fantasy 5, which is fitting, as one of the new bosses introduced in Trails to the Heavens comes from that game, or rather, its remaster. Enuo, the incredibly powerful optional boss from Final Fantasy 5 Advance, will appear as a Final Fantasy 14 boss, in a Trial called The Unmaking.

There are several Final Fantasy 14 jobs that let the player summon creatures, but the Beastmaster is the first to master existing monsters. Fans won't have to wait long to seek out this new career path, as Trails to the Heavens arrives on April 28, 2026.
