The Director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has made an exciting announcement regarding the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, which fans should be learning more about soon.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy aims to tell the story of the original game in three segments, with the first adapting the Midgar section, and the second covering everything from Kalm to the City of the Ancients. Presumably, the third game will adapt the rest, but it's difficult to say, given that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set in a new timeline and events can still play out differently.

News about the third entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been scant, but fans have just received an encouraging update. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Director Naoki Hamaguchi spoke to ComicBook while promoting the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S ports, and discussed the upcoming third title.

According to Hamaguchi, Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans won't be waiting long to learn about the third game. Not only is an announcement coming soon, but the game is proceeding as scheduled, so it's unlikely to face any delays.

"What I can say is that development itself is proceeding on time and on schedule," Hamaguchi said, "We believe it’ll become a title we can deliver with confidence as the culmination of the trilogy. We know many fans are eagerly waiting, and preparations toward the announcement are steadily underway. Please look forward to it just a little longer."

Not only is an announcement coming soon, but the game is proceeding as scheduled, so it's unlikely to face any delays.

Chances are, the third entry and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will be revealed during a Sony State of Play or at the Summer Games Fest, which is set to take place in June. As for a release date, the game will likely come out in 2027, which not only marks the 30th anniversary of the original game but also keeps it squarely away from Grand Theft Auto 6.

Fans are eager to learn more about the grand finale of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, which began with that huge announcement at E3 2015 and is still ongoing a decade later. If Hamaguchi is on the money, then it won't be long before the end is finally in sight.
