The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is here — officially, this time — giving us a preview of the next era for Tom Holland's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The long-awaited trailer for Brand New Day features a cavalcade of cameos, including a ton of Spider-Man bad guy B-listers, Mark Ruffalo's return as the Hulk, and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is spectacularly stuffed with good guys and bad boys from the Marvel universe, including the long-awaited return of Michael Mando as Scorpion/Mac Gargan (last seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming) and the addition of Marvin Jones III, aka Krondon, as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone. But that's not all: The evil ninja clan known as the Hand is here too. Holland and the team are simply giving the fans what they want.

That includes the MCU version of the classic "Man-Spider" storyline from Marvel Comics and Spider-Man: The Animated Series, in which Peter Parker's DNA is radically altered again by the radioactive spider that bit him.

But at the heart of the story is how Peter Parker is still reckoning with the decisions of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Dr. Strange cast a spell that wiped the world's memory of Peter as Spider-Man. Even longtime friends Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya) don't remember him, as illustrated by the heartfelt confessional letter that Peter is heard narrating throughout the trailer. If Brand New Day goes the way Peter Parker's fortunes typically do, there probably won't be a happy ending in Spider-Man's future.

One thing the trailer doesn't reveal? Who Sadie Sink of Stranger Things fame is playing. But there appear to be hints about her powers in the trailer.

The next Spider-Man movie is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Short Term 12), based on a script from Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who penned the previous three Spider-Man films. Joining Holland, Zendaya, and Batalon in Spider-Man: Brand New Day are newcomers to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into movie theaters on July 31.
