Fortnite V-Bucks get a price hike from Epic Games

'The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot,' Epic said in a statement

After making an eye-watering $6.01 billion in 2025, it might come as a shock that Epic Games is once more raising the price of Fortnite's in-game currency, V-Bucks. Epic Games shared the news via a Fortnite blog post, stating, "The cost of running Fortnite has gone up a lot, and we’re raising prices to help pay the bills."

On March 19, the following price increases (values will differ depending on region) will take place:

• $8.99 Pack – 800 V-Bucks (was 1,000)
• $22.99 Pack – 2,400 V-Bucks (was 2,800)
• $36.99 Pack – 4,500 V-Bucks (was 5,000)
• $89.99 Pack – 12,500 V-Bucks (was 13,500)
• Exact Amount Pack – $0.99 for 50 V-Bucks (was $0.50 for 50 V-Bucks)

V-Bucks are used by players to purchase cosmetics, such as skins and emotes, from the shop, and to gain access to the Battle Pass. Fortnite's Battle Pass has also been affected by these changes. The pass originally cost 1,000 V-Bucks, and players could earn 1,000 V-Bucks back. The pass now costs 800 V-Bucks, with the ability to earn that 800 V-Bucks back. However, Epic has removed the ability to earn an additional 500 V-Bucks you could previously earn in Bonus Rewards after completing the battle pass. (Epic's press release doesn't say whether the price of other cosmetic items in the game will be affected.)

As an added bonus (or consolation), players who make purchases in Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, etc, will get 20% back in Epic Rewards when made through the Epic Games Store, or Epic's payment system on platforms such as Android, PC, iOS, and the web. With these Epic Rewards, players can use that credit in Fortnite, as well as other games from Epic.

This is disappointing news for Fortnite players seeking more value from their purchases. With the updates to Fortnite scheduled for March 19, fans have plenty of time to buy V-Buck gift cards and redeem them at their printed value for future use, as Epic Games has confirmed that current owners of V-Buck gift cards won't be affected.
