An X user claims that Xbox has accidentally leaked Forza Horizon 6's release date in a Forza Horizon 5 pop-up advertisement. The alleged leak comes ahead of the Jan. 20 Xbox Developer Direct, where Forza Horizon developer Playground Games is set to reveal new details about two of its upcoming games — Forza Horizon 6 and Fable.

X user XboxF10 posted a screenshot showing what appears to be a promotional image with details about premium editions of Forza Horizon 6. The leaked image also includes details about the game's upcoming DLC:

  • Early Access – Play four days early starting May 15
  • VIP Membership
  • Welcome Pack
  • Car Pass
  • Time Attack Car Pack
  • Italian Passion Car Pack (coming post-launch)
  • Two Premium Expansions (coming post-launch)

The "early access" date of May 15 is four days before launch for everyone else, which would put the release date as May 19. XboxF10 claims they saw the screen pop-up in Forza Horizon 5 after leaving the garage.

There's reason to be skeptical here. We cannot independently confirm seeing this image in Forza Horizon 5, nor can any other reporters as of the time of writing. What's more, advertising-related pop-ups don't happen frequently in Forza Horizon 5. The transition between ordering your car and receiving it takes only a few seconds, and you're more likely to see a cinematic pop-up showcasing a current event in the open world — and even that happens after receiving your car. Still, the logo in XboxF10's screenshot and in-game art seem to match official Forza Horizon 6 pre-launch press materials, and it's plausible — though not confirmed — that Forza will launch the first half of 2026 while Fable launches in the second half of the year.

Polygon has reached out to Xbox for comment, but didn't hear back in time for publication.

Forza Horizon 6 takes place in Japan and includes locations such as the rural countryside and Mt Fuji, alongside the city of Tokyo and its elevated road systems, which art director Don Arceta called "one of our most detailed and layered environments to date." Japanese car culture will also play a prominent role, with "Kei cars and vans, precision motorsport, drifting’s roots, and their passion for customization really [standing] out," cultural consultant Kyoko Yamashita said following the game's reveal.
