Funnel Runners PC (Early Access)

You and up to 7 friends must scavenge parts, fix your van, and escape the brutal tornado that approaches. A first-person co-op survival game with escalating disasters and total environmental destruction. A high-priority F5 tornado is approaching, and we are counting on you (and up to 7 fellow friends) to collect data, scavenge necessary information, and, of course, survive. The graphics are surprisingly good for the price. The lighting, atmosphere, destruction, and overall presentation look far better than expected from a game in this price range. It definitely doesn’t feel like a typical $9 indie title. One of the biggest highlights is the weather system.

The storms feel dynamic and genuinely affect the gameplay. Visibility changes, buildings get damaged, and situations can quickly go from manageable to chaotic. It creates a lot of tension and makes every run feel exciting. The core gameplay of Funnel Runners is also a really unique concept. It almost feels like a battle royale against a massive hurricane, except the real enemy is the storm itself rather than other players. You’re constantly racing against time as the disaster closes in and the world around you gradually falls apart. Your objective is to search the city, collect the parts needed to repair your van, and escape before the tornado catches up with you.

Since the environment is constantly changing, you have to adapt instead of following the same strategy every time. The AI-driven disaster system keeps things fresh by changing how each run unfolds. Storms, tornadoes, and other hazards develop differently, buildings collapse, routes become blocked, and areas that were safe a few minutes earlier can suddenly become dangerous. The semi-random map generation is another strong feature. The developers use a tile-based system that assembles different city sections and connects them with roads.

On top of that, items and resources are randomly placed, so every run encourages exploration and adapting plans instead of memorizing the map. It adds a lot of replayability. Co-op hasn’t been tested yet, but it already seems like it would be a lot of fun with friends. Splitting up to gather supplies while trying to escape an approaching storm sounds like exactly the kind of chaotic teamwork Funnel Runners is built for. It’s playable solo or with up to eight players. Funnel Runners is still fairly light on content, but that’s understandable since it has just launched into Early Access. The foundation is already very solid, and it’ll be interesting to see how it develops over time.
