Pokemon Developer Is Making A Futuristic Samurai Game For Xbox/PS5

One of the biggest surprises at the Xbox Games Showcase was Beast of Reincarnation, a sci-fi samurai game title by Pokemon developer Game Freak.

After beginning the event with Forza Horizon 6, the second announcement came from Japanese developer Game Freak, who showcased visually stunning footage from their upcoming game Beast of Reincarnation, which they describe as a "one-person one-dog action RPG".

Game Freak Confirms Beast of Reincarnation Launches This Summer

Beast of Reincarnation will take place in post-apocalyptic Japan, where parasitic plants, infected with a curse known as blight, have taken over the world. Gamers will take control of protagonist Emma, who has been cast out by society as a 'Blighted One'.

Game Freak has already proven to be experts at making lovable companions and creatures with their work on the Pokémon series, and they are once again making sidekicks a focal point of their game—but with a very interesting twist.

Emma won't have to face the dangers of dystopian Japan all by herself, as her canine companion, Koo, will help defeat creatures that are a fusion of animals and plants, known as Malefacts or Nushi.

Emma and Koo will have their own skill trees and will influence each other as their bond becomes stronger, allowing players to customize their playstyles and approach each battle in a different way.

Emma will be able to perform powerful abilities known as Blooming Acts, which freeze time momentarily and allow you to choose your next action. "It's similar to choosing the next command to activate in a turn-based RPG," Said Program Director, Masayuki Onoue.

Beast of Reincarnation will release this summer on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, and will be playable from day one on Xbox Game Pass.
