The penultimate leg of the GGMods modathon is in full swing, and in my totally unbiased opinion, it is the most appealing of the bunch.

The Modathon, announced last month as part of the portal's official launch, is now taking submissions for the Spring Cleaning theme, with a deadline of May 4th. You'd think the next leg would be Star Wars with such perfect timing, but alas, the fairycore lobby was quicker on the trigger.

The Spring Cleaning theme is geared primarily at mods that focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, or anything spring-themed. I feel like having an issue that's been plaguing me since the game launch patched out by a mod feels a lot more exciting than any seasonal goodies, but that's a whole other story.

Nonetheless, the modathon page makes it clear that the themes are only suggestions, and it is possible to win so long as you submit new, original mods.

What is the GGMods Modathon?

Open World Games Where the Map Is the Real Boss Skyrim

The GGMods Modathon is a celebratory event taking place from April 13th to May 11th to commemorate the site's launch.

Modders can submit their work to the site for a chance to win prizes ranging from $50 Steam gift cards to $1000 in cash.

This modathon is focused on five titles:

  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout: New Vegas
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • The Sims 4
  • Stardew Valley

The prizes are awarded on a per-game basis, meaning your Stardew Valley creations won't get drowned by the radioactive evils of Fallout and vice versa.

The Spring Cleaning theme is geared primarily at mods that focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, or anything spring-themed.

Every week, the most thematic mod for each game (as decided by the judges' panel) wins $100 in cash, while the most downloaded mod for that title gets $50 in a Steam gift card. At the end of the modathon, the most downloaded mods per game will net a $1000 grand prize.

To be eligible, the mods need to be new (i.e., not available outside of GGMods before April 13th), and must be fully human-made, with a zero tolerance for generative AI. The portal backs this refreshing attitude by saying the goal is to 'keep the focus on the human side of creation'.

Team efforts are allowed, as well as multiple submissions, so long as they adhere to the criteria above. You can even submit NSFW mods, provided these are properly tagged.

Currently, Snotra902's Sanrio Set is spearheading The Sims 4 leaderboard, followed closely by Hera_Sims' iPhone mods. Over at Skyrim, ColdSun's Foundation - Faces for NPCs is far ahead of the rest.

In the wasteland, KCisSICKnasty dominates the Fallout 4 rankings, while MAC-TEN's Meshes and Collision patch is well ahead of any New Vegas competitors.

Finally, over at Stardew Valley, Airyn's adorable TV Shopping Network is in the lead as it brings the Harvest Moon classic over.

You can find more information on the GGMods modathon page or on the portal's Discord server.
