When he's not busy asking you to mark bodies of PMCs or complaining about Handshake's way of doing things, Gunny's favorite hobby in Gray Zone Warfare is to stick his nose into the local drug smuggling business.
The Skycrawlers quest, set in the diminutive airport west of Pha Lang, leads you on a short stroll to find and report data on the local operation from under the noses of the main Viper Tactical Services base. My job here is simple: tell you what to find, where to find it, and how to stay alive in this short visit to Lamang's finest general aviation hub.
Skycrawlers Quest Walkthrough
Skycrawlers is a main story quest in Gray Zone Warfare, and access to it hinges on unlocking the Pha Lang Airfield area of operations.
This task pits you up against the Thai mercenaries of Viper Tactical Services, equipped exclusively with M4A1 assault rifles and wearing body armor rated at NIJ level III or III+. They all fire M855 green tip rounds, which can defeat all armor rated at level III or below.

The Sawmill northwest of Fort Narith has a lot more than just sawdust.
There are two ways to go about this: either bring a heavy vest rated above that, or skip the body armor altogether in favor of agility.
If you prefer to err on the side of caution but don't have access to good rigs or ammunition from traders, I like to hit up the southern bridge checkpoint of the Midnight Sapphire for some quick, ready-to-wear kits that have decent protection and ammunition that punches through the Viper merc vests.
The Pha Lang Airfield terminal area is one of the possible spawn points for Viper, the local faction boss. If he is present, you will have to deal with him plus four guards wearing heavy armor vests to reach the objective.
Locate and Report the List on the Road North of Pha Lang Airfield
Upon accepting the quest, your first stop will be a roadblock set up along the road north of the airfield. You can find it in grid coordinates (180,160), due east of the barricaded house. Expect two enemies there, with the chance of a five-man patrol walking by.
Search for a crashed car on the south side of the road. The driver will be lying lifeless next to it, with a piece of paper near his hand (Mob List of People). Read it to communicate the results to Gunny and advance the quest.
Investigate Pha Lang Airfield and Find Proof of Drug Trade
Armed with the list, you now need to make your way to the auxiliary hangars on the southeastern end of the airstrip to locate the goods.
Cross the runway, then advance onto the annex area. You will need to take out the 3-4 Viper Tactical Services PMCs there, one of which tends to hide inside the target building.
The objective is in the eastern garage at coordinates (182,158), which also houses a locked door (Pha Lang Airfield Storage key) and a couple of forklifts. I prefer entering it through the rear door instead of the main gate so that I'm less exposed to fire from the hangar on the other side, but the downside of that is some gnarly CQB if more than one enemy is holed up inside.
Approach the desk with the laptop on the corner, and inspect the bricks on the table to report the evidence to Gunny.
Retrieve the Logbook from Pha Lang Airfield and Report Back
Now comes the hard part of the Skycrawlers quest: assaulting the terminal of Pha Lang Airfield and retrieving the logbook tracking the deliveries of the drug syndicate operating there.
The approaches to the terminal are well-guarded. To the north, you have the Viper Tactical Services command post with multiple enemies. If you hit it from the south, you have a checkpoint to the right, and a restaurant to the left, each with 3-5 enemies. Sentries also wander the area between the airport and the hangar to the east.
My preferred quiet approach is to go through the western gate, where your main concern should be fire from the terminal building itself, especially from the AI guard on the top floor.
Once you are in the airfield area itself, hug the western wall and walk southwest until you pass the locked meeting room, then head inside through the next door.
In the terminal, open the first door to your right to enter the dispatch room with an old computer that is turned on. The logbook is located under the desk, on top of a pile of boxes.
Grab it, then make a run back to base or the nearest friendly outpost to deliver it to Gunny and complete the Skycrawlers quest.
