Gray Zone Warfare: Unlisted Flight Walkthrough

Unlisted Flight is a main story quest introduced in update 0.4 Spearhead for Gray Zone Warfare. This mission is given out by Lab Rat and requires you to have enough reputation to unlock the Sawmill region.

A passenger airline has made a crash landing in the jungle west of the Sawmill, but nobody knows what brought it down, or why it was flying over the island of Lamang in the first place, since the airspace was supposed to be closed at the time it went down.

Lab Rat needs you to hit the road and find some answers, and that will take you through a little trip around the Sawmill region.

Investigate the NZ209 Crash Site

The first part of the quest requires visiting the crash site itself. Lab Rat is after the flight recorder, the whereabouts of the passengers and crew, any documents about the crash, and an overall assessment of the situation. You can complete these in any order you like.

The area around the jet is lightly guarded, so expect two pairs of soldiers wearing body armor and carrying either AK-74 or vz. 58 assault rifles. The crash site is located on coordinates 148,135, and is a short walk from landing zone Echo 1.

Inspect the Tail Section and Try to Locate the Flight Recorder

Coming toward the jet from the east, following where it skidded along the ground, look at the underside of the fuselage from the right side.

You will see a small open compartment where the black box is normally located. Approach it and report to Lab Rat that the flight recorder is missing.

Continuing along the right side, you will see two cars parked near a small dirt road.

Behind the grey SUV, you will find a green ice cooler with a lamp on it. Next to the lamp is a piece of paper. Read the Scavenger's Notes to report to Lab Rat.

Assess the Current Situation at the Site

Move back to the aircraft. Closer to the front right of the plane is a pile of suitcases.

Inspect them to report your assessment of the situation to Lab Rat, mentioning that scavengers have picked the place clean.

Report on the Passenger Casualties

Go around the nose to the left side of the plane, and inspect any of the bodies lying down nearby to report the status of passengers to Lab Rat.

Investigate the Wind Turbine and Send the Recordings to Lab Rat

Once you have the initial pieces of the puzzle, it should be as obvious to you as it is to Lab Rat that things are far from clear. The doctor recommends checking out the nearby wind turbine in hopes of the CCTV catching anything that could explain the crash.

The wind turbine is located on grid 147,136, a short walk from the plane. If coordinates aren't your thing, just look for the huge fan towering over the jungle.

The CCTV recordings are located inside one of the two trailers near the turbine. To open it, you will need to punch in the right code and turn on the power to activate the keypad.

The code is located on a sticky note on the passenger window of a red SUV parked near the turbine. This is a randomly generated code that changes every few hours and is individual to each server.

For the next step, you have to act quickly. Approach the generator next to the trailer that will be on your left. Turn it on, then head to the trailer on the right and quickly punch in the code from the SUV sticky note into the keypad. You will have less than 30 seconds to get the whole thing done, as the generator is out of fuel and only runs intermittently.

Once inside, press and hold the interact key when facing the laptop with the blue screen to access the data and send it to Lab Rat.

Investigate What Happened to the Missing Black Box at the Sawmill

The next portion of the Unlisted Flight mission takes you to the busier, more fun side of the Sawmill region, straight into the heart of it.

Lab Rat believes the black box might still be somewhere in the area, and all signs point to a locked room inside the Sawmill proper.

This area is home to a large group of armed hostiles, all wearing body armor and firing 7.62x39mm PS and 5.45x39mm PS rounds that will cut through lower-tier vests and most helmets like paper. It is also a regular stomping ground for PMCs from all three factions, so be on your A-game and equip yourself accordingly.

Where to Find the Black Box Shack Code

The code is located in the eastern office building, in the small room with an entry door facing the riverside. Expect at least one enemy directly behind the building.

Once inside, look for the small desk by the windowsill. The Black Box Note containing the lock code is located on top of it, next to a telephone. Like the keypad code, this is not static and must be checked in the same session you intend to complete the quest in.

Finding the Black Box in the Locked Shack

If you haven't died so far, nice work! You're in the home stretch. Head northwest following the dirt road to the log storage area.

There is a small shack with three doors, guarded by two to three enemies. You are after the third door from the left. Use WASD to set the combination. The padlock will pop open automatically.

Inside to your left is a (literal) black box with a note on it. Read it, then report to Lab Rat. Sorry, Mario! The princess is in another castle, and it looks like she took the flight recorder along with her.
