Many aspects of Gray Zone Warfare have led me to the brink of virtual bankruptcy, but none of them more so than the UNLRA quest.

Although the quest mechanics are nothing special, they require fighting your way through three LAF checkpoints right in the neighborhood of the highly contested Tiger Bay Mall and the Harrison major COP, which is under fire more often than it's not.

No matter how dangerous, Handshake needs you to comb through all of Tiger Bay to find some dirt on the UNLRA botched evacuation of Lamang, so pack your bags and get in the chopper.

This walkthrough has been updated to match the new UNLRA quest introduced in update 0.4 Spearhead.

Gray Zone Warfare: UNLRA Walkthrough

Gray Zone Warfare UNLRA 001

The UNLRA quest pits you against bandits and the Lamang Armed Forces, on top of highly likely encounters with PMCs from other factions.

LAF soldiers manning the checkpoints are equipped with upgraded versions of the Pantsir vest, rated at NIJ level III+, and are typically armed with AK-12 assault rifles. Their standard ammunition is the 7N10 round (5.45x39mm PP), which defeats armor up to level III.

The bandits, which you will fight in the UNLRA HQ building and the container dorms, do not pose a serious threat due to their weak equipment and low-tier ammunition.

During my attempts to complete the quest, the biggest issue was running into other PMCs raiding Tiger Bay. Given how much foot traffic there is, the best way to survive is to avoid being seen. Take a gun with a suppressor and a scope or a magnifier. Clearing checkpoints won't always be silent, but this buys you a few precious seconds before the NPCs return fire.

Most importantly, unless someone else opens the door for you, you need to have the UNLRA HQ Office Key Card in your inventory to complete the quest.

This item has a minuscule spawn chance in the pockets of enemies in Tiger Bay, and has inconsistent fixed spawns in the UN container dorms entrance tent (133, 201) and the UN officer apartment near the restaurant by the northeastern UNLRA checkpoint (131,197).

I highly recommend securing the keycard before accepting the quest. You are free to start the quest without it, but in all likelihood, that will lead to dying and having to start over, on top of the reputation loss with Handshake.

Locate Intel at the Southern UNLRA Checkpoint

Gray Zone Warfare UNLRA 01

Your first objective is a bit of a warm-up. Head to the UN checkpoint by the bridge to the south of Tiger Bay (124, 202). You'll have to clear a small group of bandits there, but nothing else.

On the western side of the road, you'll find a blue folder (UN Pre-Crisis Analysis). Read it and report to Handshake to continue.

Gather Intel From the First LAF Checkpoint in Tiger Bay

With that out of the way, you now have to hit the LAF checkpoint on the south side of Tiger Bay (127, 201). This area is guarded by at least five soldiers, and leaves you exposed to fire from bandits on the floating restaurant to your right, and from the gas station on the way there.

Once you dispatch the soldiers, head into the tent and interact with the reinforced laptop that is on the desk next to the radios.

Gather Intel From the Second LAF Checkpoint in Tiger Bay

Your next stop is the LAF checkpoint on the northern side of Tiger Bay (132, 198).

While there is nothing stopping you from running across the city if you have a death wish, I prefer retreating to landing zone Juliett 3 and taking a short flight to Juliett 1 to avoid fighting half the town.

The Sawmill northwest of Fort Narith has a lot more than just sawdust.

The road leading to the checkpoint gives you perfect sight lines to take out most of the guards, but as you approach the area, you will also have to deal with soldiers patrolling the street as you turn right, as they can shoot into the tent.

Clear the area, then head into the tent and scan the green folder on the desk by the white coffee mug (LAF UNLRA Deal) to proceed.

Locate an Active UNLRA Terminal Inside Their HQ at Tiger Bay

Gray Zone Warfare UNLRA 05

Your next stop is the UNLRA headquarters building, located on the northeastern corner of the city (132, 201). Make sure you have the keycard with you before reaching the area. Alternatively, if you're feeling lucky, you can hide in a bush and wait for someone else to open the door for you or ask a faction member to help.

Whatever course of action you choose, enter the building through the front door and turn right to find the door with a keycard reader to the left. Once you are inside, interact with the computer that is turned on.

Search the UNLRA Container Dorms and Find Out What Happened to R. Taylor

Gray Zone Warfare UNLRA 08

As it turns out, the terminal is locked behind a security card, and not the one you used to get into the room. You need to find the credentials of UN officer R. Taylor, and Handshake correctly surmises you will find him in the container dorms across the street.

While R. Taylor cannot be reached for comment, you can find his body in the storage shed on the northeastern corner of the dorms. Search him to retrieve the security card.

Use the Security Card to Access the Terminal and Download the Data from the Server

With the security card in your inventory, run back to the terminal in the HQ building. Access the data using R. Taylor's card, and once you're done, interact with the PC tower to pull out the USB drive.

Finally, all you have to do is make it back to base or a friendly outpost to hand it over to Handshake and complete the UNLRA quest.

If it is under your faction's control, you can hit up COP Diamond to the east. I'd caution against using LZ India 2 as an extract due to the occasional bush wookiees firing down from the hills. You can move north past the dorms through the jungle to reach Juliett 1 or Oscar 3, which are typically quiet LZs.
