Halo: Campaign Evolved is out now for folks who have pre-ordered the premium edition (sorry, everyone else, you'll need to wait until Tuesday, July 28 for the Halo: Campaign Evolved release time), which means plenty of players are reliving Master Chief's introduction once again. If you haven't got your hands on the game yet, but you want to watch the iconic opening "Pillar of Autumn" mission, check out the video below.

The "Pillar of Autumn" mission takes place on the ship of the same name, where Master Chief is awoken from cryosleep amid an invasion from the Covenant. After rushing to the bridge to meet Captain Keyes, the player must fight through hordes of grunts and elites alongside plenty of UNSC marines, before boarding one of the last remaining vessels to escape. Keyes seemingly goes down with the ship in a blaze of glory, as Master Chief and the surviving marines investigate the halo.

As explained in our Halo: Campaign Evolved review, this is one of the best remakes of all time. The switch to Unreal Engine 5 has worked a charm: it's visually stunning, runs like a dream, and is faithful enough to the original while still feeling like a fresh take on the series. The three new missions, set a year before the events of the main campaign, are a fun jaunt with Master Chief rolling alongside Sergeant Avery Johnson, and the new skulls offer plenty of replayability. This is the ultimate version of the first ever Halo game, and it bodes well for the rumored Halo 2 and 3 remakes.
