The upcoming remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo: Campaign Evolved, is inching closer and closer to its official launch as the Halo franchise itself nears its 25th anniversary in November.

Recently, Microsoft has officially begun Campaign Evolved's marketing via a collaboration with the soft drink Fanta, with rumors suggesting that the game may launch as soon as June or as late as August this summer.

To potentially support this release window, credible Halo series insider Rebs Gaming has recently discovered that the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee has officially rated Campaign Evolved as 19+, the equivalent of PEGI's 18 rating or the ESRB's Mature 17+ rating.

Halo Studios has finally revealed the Halo: Combat Evolved remake as Halo: Campaign Evolved.

This rating not only suggests that Campaign Evolved may be launching sooner than fans expected but also marks a notable return to Halo's roots, as Campaign Evolved is now expected to be the first M-rated Halo title since 2014.

The History Halo's Ratings

The Halo franchise may not be as violent or as explicit in adult content as titles such as Doom or Grand Theft Auto, but the early entries in the franchise were always rated mature for blood, gore, and violence.

This can be seen in Halo: Combat Evolved's core FPS gameplay, the vast amount of blue, red, and purple blood players can make Elite, Grunt, and human corpses spill, and the body morphing, zombie-like Flood, which were the primary culprits for the original Halo trilogy being M-rated.

Halo 4 marks the last brand-new Halo game to be rated

Other Halo games, such as Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach, are rated mature due to their repetitive use of cursing and other harsh language on top of violence and blood in the absence of the Flood.

Halo 4 marks the last brand-new Halo game to be rated mature, largely due to the gory composition of humans aboard Ivanoff Station into Forerunner Prometheans and Cortana's noticeably more sexualized appearance compared to past iterations.

While 2009's Halo Wars was the first Halo game to be T-rated, given its RTS nature and mild use of blood and language, the era of the Xbox One saw 343 Industries and Microsoft shift Halo overall to a T-rated franchise, with the last M-rated Halo game being 2014's Halo: The Master Chief Collection due to it being a collection of Halo 1-4.

Every Halo title released since 2014 has been T-rated, despite entries such as Halo Wars 2 and Halo: Fireteam Raven featuring the Flood, albeit in less visceral forms due to their RTS and arcade cabinet designs.

Rating Halo: Campaign Evolved as 19+ could not only point towards the Halo franchise properly returning to its more mature roots, but also hint at new, more horrifying content in the remake.

Halo 3's Flood pure forms have already been confirmed to appear in the game, making CE already as gory as the hit 2007 game, but the Sgt. Johnson prequel missions could possibly depict the Covenant in terrifying ways never before seen in Halo titles.

Additionally, new terminals in CE could further shed light on the Flood's infestation of Installation 04, possibly tying into Sgt. Marvin

Mobuto's fight in the Library or potentially depicting more of the ancient Forerunner-Flood War.
