Project Ekur is no more

Project Ekur, the codename for a stand-alone multiplayer-only Halo game that has been in the works at Halo Studios, has reportedly been canceled.
In a video uploaded on Friday, July 3, Rebs Gaming claims that he's heard from multiple Halo Studios employees that "Project Ekur is no longer in development." He follows that up by saying that he doesn't know exactly when or why, but he theorizes that it may be due to the fact a number of developers on the Project Ekur team were moved to work on Halo: Campaign Evolved instead, which was facing "major development problems."
Rebs Gaming is a Halo-focused content creator who regularly reports insider info about the series. One of his biggest scoops that turned out to be true was about how Abstraction, a studio that at the time was part of Virtuos Games, was co-developing Campaign Evolved. He also claims that due to Halo Studios stating there'll be an update on the Halo Championship Series before the end of the year, that is also likely to be when we'll find out about the future of Halo multiplayer.
This comes amid news that Xbox will be laying off 3,200 employees, although there is no mention of Halo specifically being affected. The official statement does say that no publicly announced first-party Xbox games or projects are being canceled as part of these reductions, but since Project Ekur was yet to be officially revealed (and we also don't know when it was canceled), unfortunately it is not included in that statement.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled to release on July 28 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
