After battling on the frontlines in World War 2 since 2019, it’s almost time for Hell Let Loose players to try their hand at a whole different style of warfare. Revealed earlier this year, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, the follow-up to Team17’s hit tactical first-person shooter, is on its way, and now we’ve been treated to a first look at its chaotic and immersive gameplay via a brand new trailer.

Take To The Skies, The Rivers, And The Tunnels In A Historically Authentic Recreation Of The Vietnam War

Hell Let Loose: Vietnam aims to keep the original game’s core intact while building on it in exciting new ways with an entirely new point in history, providing a fresh backdrop for players to familiarize themselves with as they battle shoulder-to-shoulder. Since that backdrop will be one based on real-life events, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will follow in the footsteps of its WW2 predecessor by making historical authenticity a priority, while upping the scale of its warfare to a whole new level.

As stunning as the original game looks, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam’s new trailer demonstrates the visual upgrades the series is about to undergo thanks to the use of Unreal Engine 5. With those development tools at Team17's disposal, the studio has been able to really build on that aforementioned authenticity and hone in on the finer details more than ever before.

Equally as exciting are the gameplay mechanics shown off in the new trailer. New ways to wage war on your enemies that weren’t a part of the original Hell Let Loose, since it wouldn’t have made much sense to include them in a game set during World War 2. Chief among those new mechanics is the addition of helicopters, as players will be tasked with taking to the skies to get the job done. You’ll also engage in battles while sailing along rivers, sneak around the battlefield using an intricate system of tunnels, and assemble mortar squads to reign down heavy artillery from above.

Helicopters and NVA tunnels are only available to those playing in the US.

If you’re an avid Hell Let Loose player who doesn’t plan on making the leap from World War 2 to Vietnam right away, or you’d like to carry on playing the original alongside its follow-up, don’t worry. Support for the original Hell Let Loose will continue, even after Hell Let Loose: Vietnam has been released.
