How Coop Works in No Rest for the Wicked

No Rest for the Wicked is a pretty difficult game. After all, it is classified as a Soulslike title, and that comes with a certain degree of difficulty that some might not be prepared for.

For a long time now, the game has been strictly single-player, but that changed with the release of the Together update, which added the ability to play the game co-op. Now, you can create a realm that is meant for you and your friends.

Of course, playing co-op comes with a new set of rules. Here is everything you need to know about playing co-op in No Rest for the Wicked.

If this is your first time playing No Rest for the Wicked, you are not alone. When you first boot up the game, you will want to start by making your character.

This character can be used for strictly co-op play, or you can take them into a solo Realm as well. After this is done, you will want to create a Realm for you and your friends.

Realms are individual worlds that have their own world states. This means that anything you do in one Realm won't be carried over into another, but the items your character has, their level, and stats can be carried between Realms.

Select the Realms option from the main menu. From here, select the option that says "Create Realm" at the top of the screen. Give your Realm a name, and then select the path you wish the Realm to take.

Once the Realm has been created, select it, and then press the "share" option. A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the selection. Keep in mind, creating a co-op Realm means that it will always be online and only be accessible when you are playing online.

From there, you will get to choose which friends from your friends list are allowed to join the Realm. This will send them invites and allow them to see the Realm from the Realms list.

Realms are always online. This means that you and your friends can access the Realm you created at any time as long as they are online. The host of the Realm doesn't need to be online for someone to join the Realm.

This also means that any player can join the Realm and progress in missions, the campaign, or complete tasks while others are away. This is great for completing things like upgrades to Sacrament.

Additionally, the progress that each player makes can be seen by the others. For instance, if someone purchases a house, the other players can access said house.

There are multiple community chests as well that are inside the Rookery. These are shared between all players, allowing them to leave items for each other. Likewise, those who purchase a home can designate chests inside their house as being accessible only to the player who owns the house or the whole party.

Loot is shared among the group as well. For instance, if you open a chest, everyone sees the same items, and whoever grabs each item first gets it.

Don't worry, if you grab something that would be better equipped for a friend's character, there is also a trading system that you can access by interacting with your friend.

Realm Restrictions

There are some restrictions regarding co-op. Thankfully, only a few restrictions exist in the game. One of the restrictions is research.

When a player researches a recipe or item, that research is given only to the player who performed it. The other players in the Realm can see the research but must pay for it themselves.

Another restriction we have noticed is that bounty rewards are only awarded to the first player to claim them. These are not shared. Weekly bounty rewards are given to those who are online when the bounty is completed.
