Maybe more than you imagine and less than you would like

Finishing Resident Evil Requiem requires you to complete three major areas that are divided into smaller sections. In some moments, you play as Grace Ashcroft solving puzzles and seeking key items that she must carry in her limited inventory. When you're not trying to sneak past zombies with Grace, you are shooting them in the face as Leon S. Kennedy.

From your experience with previous Resident Evil titles to how well you learn the new game's map, there are many factors that affect how long it takes to beat Resident Evil Requiem.

How long is Resident Evil Requiem?

Like other Resident Evil games, the number of hours it will take you to finish the campaign depends on a number of factors. In our first playthrough on Standard (Modern) difficulty, we took 14 hours and 19 minutes to finish the game. During this playthrough, we explored every room in the game, opened every safe, searched for antique coins and upgrades, and read every document we found.

Other Polygon writers were able to finish the game in around 10 hours as they took less of a completionist route.

In our second playthrough, now on Casual mode, we rolled the credits after four hours and 25 minutes without major bonuses such as infinite ammo. We couldn't beat it in under four hours to complete the "Speed Demon" challenge, mostly because we got a bit lost in the second half of the game. We still collected all hip pouches for Grace and destroyed the Mr. Raccoon statues we missed during the first playthrough.

The first time playing the campaign takes longer as you need to explore and obtain important items to advance the story, but focusing only on completing the main quest shortens the time it takes to finish the game. However, by doing so, you will end up ignoring optional rooms with valuable items that can be helpful. Unlocking these rooms requires some backtracking. Going from the Chronic Care Center West Wing to the East Wing becomes second nature after a while. As you collect more items, you will see yourself forced to constantly visit a safe room to deposit items you don't need and free space in your inventory. Have these things in mind if you want to finish the game quickly and go back for another playthrough better prepared.

Every subsequent playthrough becomes a lot faster as you have newfound knowledge of how the Requiem plays out, and you have a lot more resources available to you. As Leon, you can purchase weapons that you've found during your first playthrough from supply boxes as soon as you start playing. Additionally, you can purchase bonus weapons and items in the "Special Content" section of the menu with the credits you earned from your first playthrough.
