The alien observatory door in Subnautica 2 is fairly close to the Alien Ruins biome/marker, which is a key objective once you're done with the Tadpole Pens. If you're just free-roaming, then the structure is actually 1,100 meters east of the Lifepod. Beware, though, because there are several enemies, including a deadly leviathan, along the way.

Upon reaching the alien observatory, you'll notice a pedestal and a doorway. You can't do anything yet, as you're told that the device requires a massive amount of power to function. For now, though, just explore the Alien Ruins biome and the abandoned base. You should also craft the Bioscanner upgrade and Feedback Resonator upgrade. Both of these are integral for the next tasks.
