Nioh 3 has its fair share of weird bosses, including cat girls on wheels, demons who create illusions from the steam pouring from their shoulders, and two statues glued together.

Surely Onmoraki isn't that weird by comparison, right? Well, it's a big, ugly bird monster, which isn't exactly novel for a video game, but it's made from souls that are stitched together, and when it yells, it sounds like an elephant. That makes it a top-tier weird boss in Nioh 3.

Don't let Onmoraki's bizarre appearance and cry fool you — this bird means business, and it will have no problem ruining your day if you take it lightly. You'll need a solid strategy if you want to banish this bozo back to the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, where it belongs.

Nioh 3: Onmoraki's Moves & Attacks

As Onmoraki is a bird, it will use its wings to fly above the player, making it hard to attack it. Onmoraki will also use its wings and wind magic to strike from afar, so you need to be aware that it can hit you from across the arena.

Attack

Description

Response

Tornado Blast

Onmoraki floats in the air and fires four tornados at the ground.

Parry or dodge

Stomp

Onmoraki stomps on the ground from the air.

Ninja dodge.

Wing Spin

Onmoraki spins on the spot, using its wings as blades.

Parry

Vile Breath

Onmoraki exhales a yellowish-green liquid in a beam for a surprisingly long time.

Run towards Onmoraki and try to get under it.

Beak Basher

Onmoraki attempts to stab the player with its beak.

Parry

Yokai Breath

Onmoraki breathes out blasts that leave zones of Yokai energy where they strike, creating undead.

Dodge them, then Ki Pulse to get rid of them if they're near the center of the arena. Kill the undead if they get too close.

Dive

Onmoraki dives at the player.

Ninja dodge.

Tornado Wall

Onmoraki creates a wall of tornadoes that fly towards the player.

Parry

Yokai Bomb

Onmoraki flies into the air, gathers silver Yokai energy into its body, then drops it onto the ground in a massive AoE blast.

Heal up to full, then block.

Grab

Black and yellow dots appear around Onmoraki's beak, and it lunges forward to attempt to grab the player.

Run towards Onmoraki and dash into its body.

Onmoraki doesn't stop making annoying elephant sounds throughout the fight, so consider muting the TV.

How to Beat Onmoraki in Nioh 3

Onmoraki is the most aerial opponent in Nioh 3 (with the possible exception of Great Tengu). While it spends a lot of time in the sky, that doesn't mean the player can't harm it. Onmoraki can still be hit with ranged weapons and Ninja Arts. Make sure you have a bow set to one style and a rifle for the other.

It's also possible to hit Onmoraki with jumping attacks. The Ninja is the far better choice for this approach, as it's much swifter and can dodge in midair.

Despite its massive bulk, Onmoraki is extremely susceptible to parrying. Its attacks, while powerful, are also well-telegraphed. This means the ideal strategy is to move into melee range with the Samurai stance when Onmoraki is grounded and play a slow, defensive game, parrying its hits and countering. When Onmoraki flies, switch to Ninja and use your ranged options to ground it.
