How to catch Zeraora in Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Mega Dimension

1 day ago 4

In Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Mega Dimension DLC, you can catch the mythical Pokémon Zeraora and even Mega Evolve it, but you'll need to complete a somewhat hidden set of tasks first. As with many of the other special Pokémon in this game, you'll need to craft a special donut to get to it, after you do the aforementioned tasks.

Zeraora is available as part of Side Mission EX3, "Raging Lightning," a mission that doesn't actually formally start until after you make its donut.

Below, we detail how to catch Zeraora in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, as well as how to make the Plasma-Glazed Donut.

To unlock Zeraora, you have to do quite a few things, many of which are completely unlabeled on your map, so it's easy to miss. Get these prerequisites out of the way first:

  • Complete Hyperspace Mission 12 (catching Rayquaza and clearing the DLC story)
  • Catch Diancie, as part of Special Mission EX1. You'll need to claim the Diancite via Mystery Gift and then start the quest at the Looker Bureau.
  • Catch Mewtwo, as part of Special Mission EX2. You'll need to claim the Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y from Mystery Gift, and then take the elevator to B3F of Lysandre Café to complete this side mission.

With that done, head inside Racine Construction (where Canari hangs out) in the southeast of the map. Talk to Tarragon inside and buy a Canari Bread from him for $1,300. You can only buy one per day.

Now here's the part where it hits, "How were you supposed to know this?" territory. With bread in hand, climb up the roof of this building in Vert Sector 3. There should be a little boy hanging out there, so long as you complete the aforementioned prerequisites.

He'll offer to trade you items. Give him the Canari Bread and you'll get Popping Candy in return. Go back to Hotel Z and talk to Ansha and she'll want to taste that sweet candy. Once she does, she'll get an idea for a new recipe.

After making the Plasma-Glazed Donut (more on that below), you'll be able to head into a portal to battle a Rogue Mega Zeraora, the same way you did with the previous legendary Pokémon that required donuts. After winning, you'll get to catch Zeraora and you'll get its Mega Stone. Zeraora will be a guaranteed catch, so you can freely use whatever Poké Ball you want.

In order to make this donut, it'll need the following flavors:

  • 40 points in sweet
  • 200 points in spicy
  • 400 points in sour
  • 280 points in bitter
  • 40 points in fresh

Yeesh, if you thought the delta donut had a bad flavor profile...

Just like the donuts that came before, you can't make this donut all willy-nilly. You'll need to unlock this recipe and tell Ansha you specifically want to make this donut in order to craft it.

As usual, you'll be able to see when you hit the correct flavor thresholds on the berry selection screen, with small checkmarks indicating when you hit it.

You know the drill by now. There are a lot of berry combinations that work for this, but this is the one we used:

  • 1 Hyper Haban Berry
  • 3 Hyper Babiri Berries
  • 1 Hyper Chilan Berry
  • 3 Hyper Roseli Berries

By this time in the game, you should have a hefty number of berries at your disposal. If you're struggling to find the berries we use, definitely head into higher-level (four- or five-star) portals. We've noticed that berries closer to the bottom of the list only really show up in higher-level portals, so you'll want to make sure you're actually exploring and breaking Poké Balls there, rather than solely romping around low-tier portals.
