How to Complete a Fort?

It's a bit odd to say it that way, but that's probably what works the best, given that you don't really complete a fort so much as you do empty it out. That being said, you'll still have a few hoops to jump through if you're hoping to get your hands on that tasty loot.

Completing a Fort involves two things, usually:

Unlocking the storage room
Finishing a contract

Neither is particularly difficult on its own, but if you're not sure what you're looking for, it can get pretty frustrating. We'll break them down into two sections, so you can easily figure out what you might want to knock out first.

Before any of that, you'll need to check your map and navigate your way to any of the locations that start with the Fort. Some of these are surrounded by bombs, while others may have cannons stationed on top of the ramparts to make things harder.

Unlocking the Storage Room

To put it plainly, you'll need to make your way into the Fort without blowing your Trampler into smithereens. There will usually be plenty of enemies spawning on the outside, and if the door is locked, they'll keep spawning until you get inside and kill everything.

You'll need to find a way to blow the doors open, like using a time bomb or an explosive barrel. Once inside, wiping out those enemies will give you a chance to loot freely and look for what you need.

To unlock the Storage Room, you'll need to find the Fort Key, which can spawn anywhere in the Fort, but typically spawns on the top level. It looks the same as a locked box key and will often be sitting on top of barrels or boxes.

You can't unlock the door if you have a crate in your hands.

Keep that key in your main inventory and then head downstairs to find wherever the locked door is; it'll be a little different in every fort you find. Unlocking the door opens up a few rare or better crates for you to search through for loot, and then you can put them on your Trampler.

Completing the Contract

Contracts are a bit odd since they don't really involve doing any actual work or completing objectives. Instead, these operate as a way to turn your unwanted loot into Silver, and usually a lot of it at that.

They only spawn at forts, so if you have some things you'd prefer to just get rid of, you can head to one right away. You'll find the contracts on top of the forts in a small metal basket just big enough for one box.

Collect any items you might want to sell and put them in one box, then send them up by putting them in the metal basket. This will take a full minute to complete, so you have some time for helpful exploration of the fort.

Once the contract is completed, you'll find your pay in the same box you sent up; just grab it and move it out of the basket. You can only do this once before it goes on a cooldown, so be sure that whatever you send, you want to get rid of and that it's worth the price.

Rewards

Completing a fort can give you a ton of new items, but it's pretty much totally randomized as to what loot you'll get. It can be quite lucrative for you if you're lucky enough, but regardless, there should be plenty worth looting here.

For the Storage Room, you can usually find a few crates, and typically most are green or better. The contract will depend on what you're willing to put into it, but even from junk, you can get well over 1000 Silver.

It's an easy way to get some good gear and some cash, but be on the lookout for rival players, because this extraction shooter can be punishing. No matter what, you'll walk away with something decent, so it's worth the risk.
