How to extract in Sand Raiders of Sophie

If you want to keep all the loot you've found, you need to know how to extract in Sand: Raiders of Sophie. This desert-based extraction shooter is like if Arc Raiders met Sea of Thieves, as players control enormous vehicles, known as tramplers, across a barren, sandy wasteland. Shoot other players on sight — or don't and try to be friendly — and gather as much valuable loot as possible, then escape with your valuables.

Extracting in Sand is easier said than done though, so here's everything you need to know about how it works.

To extract in Sand, you must find and activate a radio tower. To find a radio tower, open your map with M. Look for the circular white icons with a door. These are radio towers. Of course, the quickest path to them is with your trampler, but if your trampler gets destroyed like mine did in my very first game, you can also make the long trek on foot. When you're within 200 meters of a radio tower, an icon will appear on your HUD to guide you to it.

To activate it, climb up the ladder to the top, and then interact with the small radio. This will spawn a flare and begin a countdown. At the end of the timer, an enormous ship will swoop down and deploy a rope for you to start climbing. Another countdown will start, and when it finishes, you'll be whisked away, goodies intact.

If you're playing the game in Voyage mode (our recommended choice for new players), you can head to a radio tower and extract whenever you like. There's no time limit in Voyage mode, although the caveat is that since it's drop-in, drop-out, loot may be harder to come by as players have already ransacked the place.

In Storm Dive, however, extractions aren't available until after a certain amount of time, so keep one eye on your map. When the extraction points are revealed, be quick: they're single-use, so once a player or squad extracts, it will be consumed. Since the storm will slowly be closing in, some radio towers will also become inaccessible over time.
