Where Winds Meet has expanded its content with the Hidden Mountains expansion. This brings an entirely new region to the game, as well as new treasures, puzzles, questlines, weapons, a sect, and world bosses. The Hidden Mountains region contains two new world bosses. One is the Ironheart Centipede, and the other is a puppet duo named Ci and Cuo.

Before you can even try fighting one of the new world bosses, you have to unlock the Hidden Mountains region, which is done through the chain beginning with the quest called "Yingying's Invitation." The quest chain feels a bit long, but it's mostly following markers and then some boating across a river, which takes several attempts.

Ironheart Centipede Location

  • Where Winds Meet Ironheart Centipede Entrance

Ironheart Centipede requires a bit of climbing, but you should have a boundary stone ready to teleport to, because the starting point to get to this world boss is the spot where you first enter the region properly after your encounter with Heron. Instead of going down the ridge into the city, take the path that goes up, starting with the path that an NPC warns is dangerous because it's in disrepair.

The path has some ziplines and such that you use, and your greatest threat would be the monkeys that throw rocks at you. Eventually, you reach the top and find a group of monkeys, a boundary stone, and a chest that sits itself down on a little platform. Interact with the chest to access the boss room for Ironheart Centipede.

Fighting Ironheart Centipede

Where Winds Meet Ironheart Centipede Main Attack

When you enter the boss room, there's a Hero's Tomb you can interact with so you revive there in the event that you die during the fight. I used a Rope Dart and Gauntlet weapon combination against Ironheart Centipede, which worked incredibly well with the boss' skill set and range. His main attacks have a mid-level range, so a melee build lets you stay on top of the boss and avoid most of those attacks easily.

Ironheart Centipede has two main attacks that it used during my fight with it. First, it primarily uses sideways slash attacks. These are quite easy to dodge with the Rope Dart by pulling yourself toward the boss and out of range, but you can deflect them as well, which is simple if you're using deflection assist as the prompt will appear on your screen and give you time to use it.

Its other main attack is a stab into the ground. This is a heavier attack that has a closer range, as Ironheart Centipede strikes directly down with both of its blades. For this attack, dashing back or to the side is your best bet, so you want to watch for it to lean back while standing tall, which is the visual cue that it's going to use this attack.

Watching for those attacks and dealing damage between them is your best bet for taking down Ironheart Centipede. I expected to spend a good chunk of time on this boss, but I was able to defeat it during my first attempt, which means its mechanics aren't too difficult compared to other world bosses. Unlike some bosses, Ironheart Centipede only has one health bar. It has a mini-phase shift where it sheds part of its armor, but the fight itself doesn't change much at that point. Therefore, keep following the same tactics, and you'll be the victor against Ironheart Centipede in Where Winds Meet.
