On an Alien Planet you need everything you can find.
One of your basic needs in any survival game is water. After all, it is one of the building blocks of life, and without it, your character will die from dehydration.
Luckily, water isn't the most difficult thing to get in StarRupture. You might have even overlooked it while fleeing from vermin or searching for plant life.
Obtaining Hydrating Food
One of the key ways to keep yourself hydrated in StarRupture is by consuming food. This is the future, and that means you have access to various food resources that hydrate your character as well.
When you begin your journey, the ship you land on this planet in will have a personal storage container. Inside, you should find Survival Food Packs. These offer 35 hydration. It isn't much, but it will keep you alive.
Along with this, you can find hydrating food items by traveling to old, destroyed outposts. Across the map, you will find abandoned bases from past explorers who failed to complete their mission.
In these areas, you will find various piles of rubble, containers, and storage bins. Check each of these, as they could have useful food items that hydrate you.
You can also craft food at the Food Station after you unlock it while upgrading and building your base.
Look for Hydrobulbs
One of the key plants for hydrating your character is Hydrobulbs. These bright blue bulbs hang from long green stalks and are often found around pools of water.
Check around the edge of pools of water to find these plants. They are easy to spot from a distance thanks to their distinct color.

Hydrobulbs are typically found in groups of four to nine. They are not the most hydrating — offering only 15 hydration, but they are far more plentiful than food items found around camps.
Consuming Water
StarRupture doesn't tell you exactly how to consume water, making it a bit annoying for those who have no knowledge of the game. First, you need to access your inventory, which is done by pressing the TAB key.
Once you are in your inventory, you will want to right-click on the item you wish to consume. You will see the use option appear in a small drop-down menu.
Click on the use option, and your character will consume the item, granting you the hydration that it offers. Your stats appear on the left side of the inventory screen, allowing you to keep track of how much hydration you have.
If your character's hydration gets low enough, the water droplet indicator in the bottom left corner of the UI will shine red, and you will start to get hurt periodically.
Items that Offer Hydration
There are various items that you can find that offer hydration. Search for any of the following while you are exploring.
