Stephanie Watel is a writer for DualShockers. She has over three years of experience writing about all things video games, from news to lists to in-depth guides in a variety of genres. Her strongest niches start with RPGs and also include platformers, horrors of every variety, cozy builders and sims. She also enjoys a good looter shooter and the occasional gacha adventure.
Games have been her biggest passion since getting a Nintendo 64 for Christmas in the 90's and she carries that passion into all of her published content. With DualShockers, she specializes in crafting polished, informative, and enjoyable gaming guides that help pave a clear path for players and don't skimp on the details that matter most.
As you make your way through each area of REPLACED as Warren Marsh, you'll find the odds increasingly stacked against you as stronger and stronger forces seek to block your path back to Phoenix-City and the laboratory within. Since you're largely on your own with a limited arsenal, buffing the weapons you do have is paramount to surviving the streets in and out of the city.
Thankfully, there are plenty of gun upgrades in the game to help you bridge the gap and withstand the game's most formidable enemies. Finding some of them, however, will require you to do some thorough exploration. Here's how and where to find all gun upgrades in REPLACED.

How Gun Upgrades Work in REPLACED
Gun Upgrades are a collectible feature in REPLACED that, as the name suggests, provide you with upgrades that boost the stats of both your gun and pickaxe weapons. These upgrades are scattered throughout the game's levels, similar to the Health and Med-Stim upgrades, though there aren't quite as many to find. The lion's share of them also goes to your gun, while just one upgrade goes to the pickaxe.
These upgrades bolster the energy you gain from each melee attack that lands on an enemy, which in turn builds your gauge to use your gunfire and overdrive attacks. If you collect all gun upgrades in the game (including the one for your pickaxe), you'll unlock the Top Gear achievement.
All Gun Upgrade Locations in REPLACED
There are a total of six gun upgrades that you can get in REPLACED. Below is a comprehensive list of all those upgrades, with details for each one on their exact locations and the buff they provide.
Chapter 3
Water Treatment Plant - Steam Room
- Kinetic Inductor 1 - Energy gain per hit increased
This upgrade is located in the water treatment plant section of the chapter, specifically in the big room with the steam obstacle puzzle. Carefully make your way across to the right side of the room, then down to the bottom. You'll find the upgrade lying on a metal grate in the far back corner.

Chapter 4
Arcade Mini-Game Reward
- Kinetic Inductor 2 - Energy gain per hit increased
This upgrade is provided as an automatic reward for getting the highest score on the Jumper arcade game in Western Station. Speak to Susan after doing so, and she'll give you the upgrade for your efforts.
Excalibur Quest Reward
- Reduction Gear - Pickaxe now generates Energy
This upgrade, which is the only one for the pickaxe, is provided automatically as a reward for completing Excalibur's optional side quest at Western Station.
Chapter 5
Abandoned Building in Field
- Kinetic Inductor 4 - Energy gain per hit increased
This upgrade is hidden inside an abandoned building out in the fields surrounding Phoenix-City, and you'll come across during the stealth sequence against the security drone bots. After you drop down from the top of the building into the grass, immediately turn around and go left inside the building's ruined lower level. You'll come across the 'A View to Die For' music track collectible first, and then this upgrade is at the far left end of the passage.
Chapter 6
Second Floor Balcony at Facility
- Kinetic Inductor 3 - Energy gain per hit increased
This upgrade is found near the start of the chapter at the facility with large blue-and-white pipes outside. There's a steam obstacle puzzle in front of those pipes that you need to traverse to get past the facility itself. Use your double jump to cross the steam vents and land on the lower balcony of the building on the right (not the top). From there, go inside the hidden room to the right, then drop down into the lower room below. The upgrade is on top of a console against the wall.
Battery Room Near R.E.A.C.H. Laboratory
- Kinetic Inductor 5 - Energy gain per hit increased
The final gun upgrade is inside the storage room full of batteries, which you'll need to hack to get into. The upgrade itself is on a shelf in the room.
