The Fourth Major Update (0.15.0) in Fields of Mistria has brought an abundance of new content, tools, and other goodies for players to make use of in their farming adventures. Certain ones, like the Auto Feeder, can provide a superb means of convenience when it comes to handling daily routines on your farm. Meanwhile, others can unlock new niches of items you can turn around and sell or use in other ways.

Fields of Mistria: How to Unlock Auto Feeder

Feeding dozens of animals a day is no easy task. Time to make it easier!

Two of those tools are the Apiary and the Terrarium, which both involve making use of bugs for unique purposes. If you want to become Mistria's premier beekeeper (or bug master?), here's how to unlock and use Apiaries and Terrariums in Fields of Mistria.

How to Unlock Apiary and Terrarium in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Apiary and Terrarium in Fields of Mistria, you first need to pick up the respective 'Apiaries and Terrariums' story quest from Luc at the Inn. As of the game's Fourth Major Update (0.15.0), he'll send a letter to your farm's mailbox about an "Insect Opportunity", which is in fact this quest.

If you don't see the letter appear in your mailbox, make sure your game is properly updated. Otherwise, you also need to have reached at least Town Rank Level 30 (Ruby) for this quest to become available.

Speak to Luc at the Inn, and he'll ask you to collect and ship 20 bugs. To do this, use your bug net to catch any kind of bugs around Mistria and place them in your personal shipment box. If you commit the time and space in your inventory (remember the same types of bugs will stack), you can easily get this done in one day.

Either way, once that objective is fulfilled, go and speak to Adeline to turn in the quest and you'll be handsomely rewarded with some Renown along with 1 x Apiary and 1 x Terrarium to start with, complimentary. You'll also get Crafting Scrolls for each, so that you can build as many as you need going forward.

How to Use Apiary in Fields of Mistria

You can place up to 4 x Bees into an Apiary at any given time, and you'll need to have that maximum capacity in order to produce Honey. Depending on the type(s) of Bees you have in your Apiary at any given time, their rarity can yield different rarities of Honey as well. There are four in all, which include:

  • Honey (requires 4 x Common Bees or a mix of any)
  • Premium Honey (requires 4 x Uncommon Bees)
  • Deluxe Honey (requires 4 x Rare Bees)
  • Legendary Honey (requires 4 x Legendary Bees)

As noted above, you must have 4 Bees of the same rarity in the Apiary to get the respective type of Honey. It takes 3 days for the bees to produce Honey, and you'll also need to provide them with the food they request during that development period. The icon for that request will be displayed above the Apiary.

Here's how to bring the windmill home to your farm in Fields of Mistria.

In the event that you want to have more Apiaries on your farm, use a Crafting Station to build them. They require the following materials:

  • 25 x Wood
  • 5 x Clay
  • 5 x Honey (can also be purchased from the General Store)
  • 4 x Iron Ingot

How to Use Terrarium in Fields of Mistria

fields-of-mistria-terrarium-placed

Terrariums are used in Fields of Mistria to house other types of bugs for the purposes of producing Fish Bait and/or Bug Pheromones. Similar to Apiaries, you need to place 4 x Bugs of the same rarity in order to produce their respective rarity of Bug Pheromones or Fish Bait. The exception to this is the Common tier of Pheromones and Fish Bait, which can be produced with a mixture of bugs.

Outside of profit-based production, Bug Pheromones can be used on the ground in the overworld to "summon" bugs of the same rarity. In other words, using a jar of Legendary Bug Pheromones will summon a Legendary Bug that you can then catch for whatever purposes you need.

Meanwhile, Fish Bait is used to spawn fish of different rarities in bodies of water, depending on the rarity of the bait used. This can be done by tossing the bait directly into the water and waiting for the fish to appear, or via the Fish Trap provided at the Beach. If you opt for the Fish Trap, place the bait into the trap container and wait until the next day to check the results.
