Dave the Diver may seem like a fairly simple game about diving and fishing, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Not only is it full of charm and adventure, it includes an incredible amount of side content for you to take on while still keeping those two main features as the core of the experience. That's especially true for its ambitious Into the Jungle DLC expansion, which amplified what Dave can do pretty much to the nth degree.
One of the most fun bits of side content for collectors is Marinca, and thankfully, it makes a comeback in the DLC as Marinca Bloom. Among the dozens of new cards it has for you to unlock in the jungle, one of the rarest is Basilosaurus itself. The way you unlock it is a bit different from the other rare beasts you encounter, so here's how to add the Basilosaurus Marinca Bloom card to your collection in Dave the Diver.
The following guide contains spoilers for the second half of the main story of Dave the Diver's Into the Jungle DLC, so please read ahead with discretion.
How to Unlock Marinca Bloom in Dave the Diver Into the Jungle
Marinca is one of the many features you can unlock initially in the base game of Dave the Diver, and it serves as a fun, card collector-style mini-game that you can complete simply by catching new types of underwater wildlife, just as you do on any other day. Each time you catch and unlock a new creature, it will simultaneously unlock in Marinca as a new card in your collection.
As it turns out, this mini-game makes its return in the game's Into the Jungle DLC as Marinca Bloom, in the spirit of your new tropical adventure. Similar to other new and familiar NPCs that make an appearance, Sato will show up at Utara Village at one point during your progress through the DLC's main storyline. He'll introduce you to Marinca Bloom, and it'll automatically become available to use on your phone.
The mini-game works pretty much the same, in terms of the basics. There are a total of 87 fish and other creatures to find in the three sections of Utara Lake (Utara Lake Upper, Utara Lake Lower, and Lakebed Sea). This time, however, there's one main added feature for you to keep track of.
You'll also need to monitor and grow the Marinca Bloom flower on the left side, which you can do by contributing distance points earned by walking and swimming. Walking contributes sunlight while swimming contributes water to your Marinca flower, and your goal is to help it fully bloom. Doing so will reward you with a decoration for your tropical abode in Utara village.
How to Get Basilosaurus Marinca Card in Dave the Diver Into the Jungle
The Basilosaurus Marinca Bloom Card is one of the few rare holographic cards in the Marinca Bloom collection. In all, they include Sulong, the Snapping Turtle (earned via Sato's side quest), Stethacanthus, Xiphactinus, and finally Basilosaurus.
Given that Basilosaurus is the giant, aggressive prehistoric creature that you encounter as part of the main story, you may wonder just how this can be unlocked as a card. After all, they're far too big to capture, and ultimately they're not defeated by traditional means (compared to the other bosses you face). In Chapter 7, Muna has you confront the beast with some handmade Mini-Bombs made by hers truly, but as usual, things don't go according to plan.
In the end, the Basilosaurus is left dead in the depths of the lake while Dave is valiantly rescued by Cobra and the gang. However, completing this chunk of the story doesn't unlock its card for you. You'll actually need to return to its corpse at the bottom of the lake afterward.
Once you've reached the Epilogue, return to the dock and get your diving gear on. Take the plunge into the lake, and swim all the way down to the Sea Beneath the Lake region, where you previously encountered the Basilosaurus when it was stuck in the pipe. With it dead, it's now safe to recover rewards from it, so approach and carve it as you would any other creature.
You'll get the prompt for Basilosaurus as a new entry, and retrieving its meat will unlock a new recipe (Basilosaurus Hot Pot) for you to learn at Bancho's Grill. The holographic card will also unlock in your Marinca Bloom app, and you can view its contents in the app's menu.
