Starsand Island is full of crafting materials for you to obtain, with most of them being fairly easy to get and a few being more difficult. For instance, iron ore takes a little while to obtain, and a specific tool.
Those who are interested in crafting their own clothing will want to know how they can get their hands on some wool and fur. After all, these materials are required for all textiles in the game.
Let's break down everything you need to know to get wool and fur in Starsand Island. You will also want to know how to dye these materials.
How to Get Wool
Wool is the first of the textile materials you will get your hands on in Starsand Island. Before you can get it, however, you will want to start the rancher questline.
This questline is given to you by Pastelle at the Green Pasture Ranch to the northwest of your home. The first quest you receive from Pastelle will be to set up a home for some baby rabbits and feed them.
Rabbits are your primary source of wool in Starsand Island. To obtain this material, you will need to set up a home for your rabbits, fill it, and then feed them.
The rabbits in your care will automatically produce wool that you can pick up from the hutch. The production rate isn't the best, so you might want multiple rabbit hutches filled to increase the production rate.
Baby rabbits will get you regular wool, but adult rabbits will get you both regular and premium wool. Later on, you can obtain Snowools from the ranch as another means of getting wool. Snowools will only get you black and white wool.
How to Get Fur
Fur is produced in the same way as wool, except you will need a different type of animal. Primarily, you will get fur from cows. When you look at the fur item in your inventory, it will tell you that it comes from large animals.
You will not be able to build a cattle barn or obtain any cattle until you have reached the Intermediate Rancher level. At this point, you will be able to purchase cows from the ranch and build a cattle barn.
Fur is found inside the cattle barn and can be picked up in the same way that wool can from the rabbit hutch.

Stealing Wool and Fur
There is a method of getting wool and fur that isn't as effective, but will help you get a little extra, and that is stealing. You can steal wool and fur from the Green Pasture Ranch with no consequences.
All you need to do is walk into the ranch, go over to the animal pens, and see if there are any flowing items. If there are sparkles, you can interact with the item to steal it.
This will only get you one or two wool or fur at a time, so it is far less lucrative than owning your own animals, but it is possible for those who need one or two more fur or wool for their project.
How to Get Colored Fur and Wool
You may have seen that some recipes call for colored fabrics that you can make using different colored furs and wool. Unfortunately, you cannot dye wool or fur in Starsand Island.
Instead, you will need to delve into the world of bio research and get animals that are colored. Similar to how white snowools will get you while wool and black snowools will get you black wool, other colored animals will get you different colored wools and furs.
The easiest way to get colored animals is by discovering different species in the Islandpedia app. One of the fastest ways to do this is by fishing, but you can also discover bugs like bees.
Once you have discovered 72 species, you will automatically get colored sheep. You can also get different colored animals by breeding them, but the color variations are randomized, so it may take a while.
