There are several types of resources you will need to collect in StarRupture if you want to build a successful base and survive on this alien planet. These include Calcium, Wolfram Ore, Titanium, and Helium, with Helium being the most difficult of these to obtain.

StarRupture: How to Connect Power
In StarRupture, you need power for everything you connect to your base, so you best know how it works.
You may have noticed that you can find small amounts of Helium around the world, but there is nothing substantial. Those who have conducted extensive exploration may have discovered Helium, but are unsure of how to mine it.
Let's break down everything you need to know about obtaining Helium in StarRupture so that you can continue your progress.
Collect Helium From Chunks and Meteorites
At first, your main way of collecting Helium will be by harvesting it from smaller chunks and meteorites, as these are the most prevalent resource opportunities in the early hours of StarRupture.
Chunks of Helium can be found all over the world and appear as small purple rocks with a mist coming off them. Using your resource harvester on these will only get you a little Helium, with the actual resource being called Helium-3.
Of course, you can get a little bit more Helium-3 by collecting it from meteorites. This is not the only type of resource you can get from meteorites, as Wolfram Ore, Titanium, and Calcium can all be collected from them as well.
Similar to the chunks, Helium in meteorites will appear as a purple-ish color, allowing it to stand out against the meteorite's dark coloration. In total, you can expect to get around 15 Helium from meteorites and surrounding chunks.
This is not very sustainable in the later game, as you will need a large amount of Helium to help upgrade your structures and learn new recipes.

Obtaining Helium From Veins
Along with the meteorites, you can collect Helium-3 from Helium veins. Unfortunately, these are not nearly as abundant as other resource veins. Luckily, there are a few near where you start the game.
After searching for a long time, I have managed to find only a few Helium veins. These are both located to the east of the Orbital Lander by a few thousand meters.
Along the way, you will fight plenty of Vermin, so you will want to make sure you have strong weapons unlocked. Similar to the Helium chunks, the veins emit a purple-ish glow, making them easy to spot.
Unfortunately, you can't just place an Ore Extractor on top of a Helium vein. Instead, you need to unlock the Helium-3 Extractor. This is done by reaching level six with the Selenian Corporation.
After reaching level six with this corporation, you will unlock the Helium-3 Extractor, allowing you to collect Helium from veins.
What is Helium Used For?
Helium is used as a crafting material to make various items and to upgrade your structures. It is used to learn the Synthetic Silicon, Chemicals, and Glass recipes.
When it comes to crafting, Helium-3 is required to craft Glass, Chemicals, Synthetic Silicon, and other materials. Luckily, when connecting these resource extractors to your base, you won't need to worry about connecting them to your Smelter and Fabricator, as Helium is used by the Furnace and Assembler.
