To get strong acid in Subnautica 2, you must unlock a specific crafting station and scour the underwater world for either cysts or rare metals. It's worth the effort, though, as strong acid allows you to craft fiber mesh, power cells, and advanced batteries.
Here's how to get strong acid in Subnautica 2, including the corresponding blueprint location and two crafting recipes.
How to get strong acid in Subnautica 2
First, you must obtain the processor blueprint. Starting from the Lifepod, travel 360 meters north to the Old Habitat (bring a scanner!). See the "welcome home" sign? You can enter the nearest room through a gap in the floor. From there, enter the adjacent room (it contains a ladder on the right) and find the processor in the far left corner. Scan it to obtain the blueprint.

The latter is very handy, because you'll need a base to house the processor. So, find a good spot to set up a base (near the Lifepod is probably best, if that's where your items are stored) including one room, a hatch (doorway), and a few solar panels on the roof. You'll need titanium, copper wire, and mild acid (made from copper and two acidic raion pouches) to build the processor.
Although you can only use the crafting recipe involving necrolei cysts at the start of the game, eventually, you can craft strong acid in two different ways at the processor:
- Strong acid recipe 1: Use 2 necrolei cysts. Takes 30 seconds to process.
- Strong acid recipe 2: Use 1 gold and 1 sulfur. Takes 1 minute to process.
Necrolei cysts grow in the area near the Lifepod. First, go to the Angel Comb closest to the Lifepod (Anita's Blackbox). From there, swim 90 meters north and look for the tall, mine-like flowers with purple roots. Our guide on where to find necrolei cysts contains more details to help you find the right location.
To find gold and sulfur, you must obtain the heat tolerance adaptation and find the lava region, about 250 meters east-southeast of the Lifepod. As detailed in our guide on how to find sulfur, this ore is particularly common around the lava region's border, whereas our guide on where to find gold will show you the way to an excellent farming spot in the middle of the lava region. Be sure to bring a sonic resonator to collect the resources.
If you're starting out in Subnautica 2, we have a plethora of guides to help you navigate the deep blue sea. Our Subnautica 2 beginner's guide will set you off in the right direction and our base building tips will assist in planning out your sprawling base. Don't forget to stock up on food and water, too. (And if you want to get fancy with your food, you'll want salt!)
If you need help finding materials, we explain how to get the sonic resonator, which you'll want to mine tons of materials. We have guides on where to find these resources, like lead, sulfur, copper, quartz, and gold.
