How to Get The Musician's Instrument in Octopath Traveler 0

If you have been progressing through Octopath Traveler 0, then you know that one of the primary objectives of the game is to rebuild Wishvale. After all, this town has been your home for years, and it was just burned to the ground.

As part of rebuilding Wishvale, you will need to progress through the Kindlers of the Flame questline, which involves building various structures around the town. One such structure is the museum.

The items required to build this structure aren't easy to obtain. For instance, you might have difficulty getting your hands on the Musician's Instrument in Octopath Traveler 0.

What is the Musician's Instrument Used For?

After you have completed Kindlers of the Flame, Chapter 5, you will be tasked with expanding the town even more. Instead of building something that the town already had, such as the Training Grounds, you will instead be tasked with building a museum.

To build the museum, you will need to collect three different items: quality stone, quality cloth, and a Musician's Instrument. The third item is the odd one out, as it isn't something you will commonly find as you search the world of Octopath Traveler 0.

Once you have collected all three of these items in quantities required, you will be able to build the museum and progress the storyline. So far, I have not seen another use for the Musician's Instrument, nor have I seen a second one in the game.

Where to Find the Musician's Instrument

There is one Musician's Instrument in Octopath Traveler 0, and it is being held by the Former Merchant NPC in Shepherd's Rock. Start by traveling to the Castle Square portion of Shepherd's Rock.

Once you are in this location, access the house to the left of the fountain. Inside, you will find the Former Merchant NPC. Speak to him, and use Path Action Entreat.

You will see that he has the Musician's Instrument in his inventory. When I interacted with him, I had a 23% chance of obtaining the instrument based on my reputation.

If you have progressed far enough into the game and have raised your reputation high enough, you will have a better chance of obtaining this item from him. Remember, failing this check will cause you to lose your reputation in the town.

If you end up souring your reputation, you will need to go to the bar and pay the fee to regain your reputation.

What is the Purpose of the Museum?

Once you have all the items and have built the museum in Wishvale, you will get a cutscene showing a composer who arrives in town. After this cutscene, you will receive a music score for the town of Wishvale.

Along with this, the museum can be used to listen to the game's various music scores. You may have found these scattered about the world as you have explored.

Each of the music scores you collect will appear in the museum and can be played by interacting with the podium on the stage in the back of the building.
