Octopath Traveler 0: Beginner's Guide

If you're new to the Octopath Traveler series, our guide will get you started properly.

What if we told you that you could get your hands on a massive ship called The Queen Orsa for free? It sounds a bit absurd considering the owner of the ship wants you to pay 100,000 Leaves for the repair costs, but it is true.

Let's get you out on the open sea, so that you can track down the various sea creatures that lie in wait in Octopath Traveler 0.

The Queen Orsa Location

Octopath Traveler 0 Queen Orsa Location Dock

The Queen Orsa is a ship found in the town called Rippletide. This is a small seafaring town that resides along the coast to the south of Theatropolis and to the north of Shepherd's Rock.

After making your way to this town, you will find an NPC named Marjim, the owner of The Queen Orsa. This will ultimately start a quest involving the large ship and purchasing it from Marjim.

This quest is meant for level 25 because of the area in which it is located, so I recommend gaining a few levels first before making your way down to Rippletide, as the path can be a bit treacherous.

Obtaining The Queen Orsa for Free

Octopath Traveler 0 Queen Orsa Skilled Shipwright

The Queen Orsa is a bit expensive, especially for the time you get access to the quest. Even if you use money-saving tips and collect every penny, you will be spending most of it on the ship.

The total that Marjim will ask for the repairs is 100,000 Leaves, which will leave a massive hole in your pile of money leading up to that point. Even if you somehow manage to use your reputation to haggle with him on the price, it will still cost you 80,000 Leaves.

Marjim is very hard to haggle with. After increasing our reputation multiple times and reaching level 30, there was still a 0% chance of us convincing him to lower the price.

That is where the shipwright comes in. Finding this fellow will allow you to get The Queen Orsa for free. To find him, head to Emberglow. Once there, follow the path up to the church.

Here, you will find an older NPC down the steps from the church. When you interact with him, you will see he is called "Skilled Shipwright."

You will want to first use the Inquire Path Action. After this, use the Recruit Path Action. After performing both actions, you will get a cutscene where he agrees to fix the ship for free.

Return to Marjim to let him know that you found a shipwright. Marjim will then agree to give you The Queen Orsa free of charge. You will, however, also need to locate his lost love.

Finding Marjim's Lost Love

Octopath Traveler 0 Queen Orsa Chiara

After returning with the Skilled Shipwright and listening to Marjim, speak to the NPC at the start of the dock. He will tell you about where Chiara, Majim's lost love, went.

From here, make your way to Cragspear on the western side of the map. Once there, head to the top of the town where the large statue is located. Here, you will find Chiara.

Speak with her and then use the Hire Path Action. This will allow you to bring her to Marjim. After the pair is reunited, Marjim will agree to be your captain, and you will be allowed to set sail without spending a single Leaf to obtain the ship. Just be sure to keep an eye out for Octopuffs.
