Throughout your adventure, you'll find JP in multiple ways. This JP is very important to your journey, as it will be necessary to unlock a multitude of different things.

Getting Job Points

Job Points, known in the game as JP, are gained in a multitude of different ways. There's no shortage of JP in Octopath Traveler 0.

The first, and most obvious way is by winning battles with your party. JP can also be earned through defeating enemies in one hit, or by equipping a support skill known as Extra JP.

Additionally, if you have someone with a Merchant job in your party, you can learn a skill known as Arrow of Fortune. This will give you massive amounts of JP on the post-battle screen.

How Job Points Work In Acquiring Skills

Getting Job Points and spending them is pretty straightforward, but it's important to know exactly how these points are spent. It's not quite as simple as getting them, then spending them.

Each purchase makes the next one more expensive. So, while that healing skill may seem tempting, keep in mind that if it costs 30 JP, the next skill is going to cost more.

This keeps increasing, so be wary of what skills you buy. Always make sure to prioritize what you believe you're lacking at any given time.

Using JP To Unlock Action Skills

Once you've accumulated a decent amount of JP, you can pop into the menu. On the Skills page, you can find the option to learn skills.

Learning skills isn't just going to give you access to that skill. Each subsequent skill learned also puts points towards other types of skills.

As you learn battle skills, you'll also make progress in unlocking support skills. Many of these will wind up being crucial, including the aforementioned Extra JP and Arrow of Fortune.
