MIO: Memories in Orbit is the newest indie Metroidvania from developer Douze Dixièmes, set in a dark, complex science fiction world. Its map is packed to the brim with secrets, hidden areas, and bosses to uncover.
In order to clear the map properly and engage with all of MIO's content, however, you'll need to have a few key tools at your disposal. One of those tools is fast travel.

10 Games That Will Make You a Metroidvania Fan
There are plenty of game genres out there, but one of the best is Metroidvanias. Here are several that will make you fall in love with the genre.
MIO does not make how to fast travel readily apparent, and ultimately leaves it up to you to figure out how to do it. So, if you're still not exactly sure how to start zipping around MIO's world, never fear.
In this guide, I'll cover how to unlock fast travel and what you need to do in order to make traveling between MIO's complex map far easier. You'll need to get a few things done before fast travel becomes a thing, and this guide will make finding out what those things are a lot simpler.
What Allows Fast Travel
In order to fast travel in MIO: Memories in Orbit, you need to use the various attunement gates. These are located throughout the world of MIO, and once you've attuned to them, you can then use the Overseer Pathways option.
Overseer Pathways are what connect each attunement gate to the network, the game's main world, to each other. If they aren't connected to the network, then fast travel to each location isn't possible.
Each fast travel location requires a connection between the two, which is done through both exploration of the game's world and reaching certain points in the story. Without one, travel between the various sites in MIO is impossible. You'll need to connect each location before any fast travel can happen.
How To Unlock Fast Travel Locations
Connecting the gate to the network by interacting with it isn't going to solve all your fast travel woes. It's worth noting that without an Overseer to bridge the lines between each gate, there are no fast travel options available.
In order to allow fast travel, you need to find the various Overseers that are peppered throughout the game world. If you don't find them, you can still use the attunement gates to upgrade and modify your character, but the true potential of the gates won't be fully realized.
Finding and freeing an Overseer will let them soar back to their corresponding attunement gate, which then connects it to the larger network. Once a connection is firmly established, traveling between the distant locations on the map will become far more manageable.
Overseers are found in various different locations throughout the world. Some of them are hidden away in alcoves, requiring some late-game abilities like the wall climb and glide to reach.
Others are found after reaching certain areas in the story. It's important to uncover each tiny nook and cranny that you can find in MIO's world, as finding Overseers are crucial to making fast travel through the map a breeze.
