If you search hard enough, you can find a location that will reward you with an item allowing you to summon a boar companion named Truffle. This mighty boar is able to quickly knock down enemy poise, leaving them open to attack.

Benefits of Truffle

Truffle is the boar companion in Windrose. Needless to say, a companion is useful, as it means another source of damage, and a distraction for enemies.

Of course, there are many who are playing the game solo, or plenty of people who don't always have friends in the game, so Truffle makes a great addition.

Truffle is a slow attacker, but they are able to charge enemies, dealing heavy poise damage. This allows you to down enemies quicker, dealing more damage in the process without the need to defend yourself as often.

The downside to Truffle is that they have pretty low defense. This makes them a bit ineffective during boss fights like Israel Hands, since they won't last long in the fight.

Overall, Truffle can be very useful, but it more useful as a sidekick than the primary focus of attacks. You should avoid having them take the brunt of the damage unless needed.

Finding the Ancient Village

Truffle is found by locating the Ancient Village in the Foothills biomes. Since the islands are randomly placed, there is no guarantee where you will find the island with the Ancient Village.

This area is easy to spot, however, as it has the same image on the map as the Ancient Farms, with the symbol being that of wheat. Along with this, the location has multiple buildings, making it stand out from other locations.

The largest landmark in the Ancient Village is the altar, which stands above the buildings in the center of the area. Be careful, as there will be plenty of wolves and goats in this location, so make sure you have some extra food and strong weapons.

How to Unlock Truffle

In the middle of the Ancient Village, you will see an altar with a statue that praises the area. When you interact with this altar, it will tell you that it requires the following items:

• 3 vessels
• 20 pieces of meat

Overall, these items are not difficult to obtain. First, the meat is obtained by killing animals. You might have the meat on you already, but if not, there are plenty of wolves and goats in the area that you can fight to obtain the meat. You can also have the wolves fight the goats to make things a bit easier.

Second are the three vessels. These are scattered around the area in the following locations:

• In a building to the right of the altar. Found in the room behind the thick vines.
• Destroy the broken stone column, and use it as a ramp to reach the second vessel.
• Jump up the side of the largest building and jump into the center to find the third vessel.

Once you have all the items, bring them to the altar. You will be rewarded with a boar-shaped whistle that you can then use to summon Truffle.
