How to Use LEMs in StarRupture

StarRupture LEMs Menu and Machine

StarRupture is a massive game, that’s pretty obvious. And to those who’ve never played a factory-sim, it can be pretty baffling figuring out how to get everything working.

While the tutorial does a relatively good job of explaining how things work, it won’t be long before it runs dry, and you’re left to your own devices, wandering this lost and ruined planet, as meteors rain down around you.

Of course, those Meteors, or the Rupture as it is called, are the key to much of what this planet has to offer. So grab your spelunking helm and click on that flashlight, because it’s time to go exploring. Just try not to get burnt!

Breaking the Vines

StarRupture Entrance

Wandering around this broken planet, you might have stumbled across a patch of tangled vines with a cave beneath. Like me, you might have shot at them, jumped on them or even tried the demolition tool to no avail.

However, if you want to enter the caves and discover everything that lies within, you’ll first have to wait until the Rupture strikes.

On an Alien Planet you need everything you can find.

The fire from the blast will burn away the vines that cover the caves, but only for a short while. As soon as the flora begins to retake hold of the planet, so too will the vines cover the Underground Caves.

When you get the rupture message, stay near a few good cave locations, build a quick tower and a habitat. When the rupture is over, simply deconstruct them and loot as many caves as possible.

Underground Cave Loot

Quartz Ore

StarRupture Quartz

The first thing you’re likely to find when exploring these caves is the large growths of quartz hanging from the rock. These emanate a bright blue light, though you may have to crouch and crawl through a few tunnels before you’re able to reach them. Quartz can be used for the following recipes:

  • Quartz Building Material

Glowcap

StarRupture Glowcap

The next thing you’re going to stumble across is the Glowcap plants that are scattered around. More often than not, these will be a bit more plentiful in comparison to the quartz, and just as well, because they’re an incredible resource.

Not only do these plants heal you 50hp, but they’ll also give you 20 calories and 30 Hydration, pretty much everything you need to survive! And what’s more, unlike other plants, these won’t increase your toxicity level, so there’s far less to worry about.

If you’re ever in a pinch, jump off a ledge, eat a couple of these mid-fall and then carry on running.

The Glowcaps can be used in the following recipes:

  • Drain Red Plasm
  • Termo Res Plasm
  • Infection Res Plasm
  • Corrosion Res Plasm

These food items double the resistance to the respective debuff for 10 minutes; however, they will also inflict 40 toxicity.

Dead Bodies

StarRupture Body

Of course, if you see a dead body on the map, near the cave marker, chances are it’s somewhere below.

These bodies can carry anything from food items to ammunitionto machine parts that can be exchanged for data points, so it’s always worth looting them!

Leaving the Cave

StarRupture Hanging Vines

Getting out is as simple as running up to the length of dangling white vines and clambering back out. If you ever get stuck inside, shoot the large glowing red orb, and the vines will retract for a short time.
