Hozy, a Relaxing Home Renovation Game, is Coming to Steam This March

One of the most popular trends in indie gaming is the emergence of cozy games.

These come in all different shapes and sizes. The most obvious examples are the various life simulators that exist, such as Stardew Valley. However, the term cozy can mean different things to different people. For some, there's something satisfying and relaxing about a game like PowerWash Simulator. I should know because it's one of my wife's favorite games to play while lying in bed. She's always enjoyed the soothing, relaxing nature of powerashing videos, so being able to do it in a video game is like a dream come true for her.

Then there's the concept of home improvement and renovation games, letting us live out our biggest TLC home flipper fantasies. Why watch Flip or Flop when we can live it out in our favorite games?

Developer Come On Studio understands this, as they're combining the DNA of games like PowerWash Simulator and House Flipper into Hozy, published by tinyBuild and set to release on Steam on March 30th.

Hozy Looks to Focus Solely on the Serene and Zen Aspects of Home Renovation

The name of the game in Hozy is renovating and decorating abandoned homes to your heart's desire, all without the stress of various timers, deadlines, or metrics to hit. Come On Studio is instead focusing on the relaxing zen that comes with the cozy genre. "There are no timers, scores, or penalties, and absolutely no stress," they said in a press release. "Just you, your tools, and the simple joy of making spaces beautiful again. Whether you're wiping windows, choosing the perfect wallpaper, or placing a sofa, it's all about that satisfying flow."

With that being said, they're still focusing on the finer details at play here. The game is built around the wonderful little dopamine hits we get when we perfect our home renovations and decorating. This includes plants swaying in the wind, candles providing warmth and light to a room, the natural sounds of the wind from an open window, and more.

Come On Studio is promising a "designer curated collection" of decor and furniture, complete with the freedom to rotate, move, and place as we see fit.

Hozy will be available on Steam for PC and Mac on March 30th. You can wishlist the game and enjoy a free Steam playtest, available now.
