As the world in Infinity Nikki continues to expand, and Nikki and Momo set their sights further across Miraland, it's important for them to have access to the best abilities possible to make the journey. Thankfully, over the course of numerous seasonal updates, the roster of abilities is continuing to expand as well, and certain ones have proven to be especially practical for Nikki's endeavors.
Though the game is ever-changing and more abilities will obviously follow in the months and years to come, these particular abilities are still evidently a cut above the rest and are honestly well worth the investment of Diamonds. On top of that, they all look every bit as fabulous as they should. From outfits that help you gather materials with the greatest of ease to ones that let you freely traverse the regions of Miraland on a stunning steed, these are all an absolute must for your wardrobe.

Infinity Nikki: How to Get Mark of Time Outfit
This Infinity Nikki look is an opulent throwback to the ancient histories of Itzaland. Here's where to find it.
10 Shrinking
Don't Worry, Momo's Got This!
With so much practical fashion that's come along in Infinity Nikki, I had to take a moment to remember that Shrinking is actually one of the default ability outfits in Infinity Nikki. Not only that, it's honestly quite useful that it really deserves to be unlocked in other regions by now (like a number of other abilities at this point). Sure, there's a perhaps certain sentimental charm in some abilities being retained in specific areas where they thrive most, but as the game's world grows bigger, the player community has definitely been yearning for less region-locking and more mechanical flexibility. However, that's a conversation for another time.
Shrinking is used specifically in the Wishing Woods area of Wishfield, and unlocks once you reach that point in the main story. This ability helps you shrink down to a surprisingly minuscule size and have Momo carry you around instead. Not only is it ridiculously adorable and whimsical, it helps you reach tight and cozy areas where, normally, only the local Faewish Sprites can go. Exploring every nook and cranny with this ability helps you obtain various treasures, from Blings, to Whimstars, to treasure chests full of Diamonds and other items.
Not only that, Momo proves to be quite nimble when you take control of him in these unique scenarios, as his jumping mechanics can reach impressively far distances.
9 Battle Companion
Nikki the Beastmaster??
A much more recent addition to Nikki's ability catalog is Battle Companion, which became available thanks to Ian the Cadenceborn. You can visit him at his Itzaland location in the Titans' Outpost Ruins near Spira, and as you provide him with more Dews of Inspiration, you'll get the opportunity to unlock this dynamic ability that puts a new twist on overworld combat.
When you've obtained and completed the Deepwood Dream outfit from Ian's series of rewards, you'll automatically unlock the Battle Companion ability. You can complete additional quests from Ian to get a feel for how the ability works, and the Itzaland Heart of Infinity grid includes a huge section of nodes devoted entirely to Battle Companion.
Essentially Infinity Nikki's version of a beastmaster, you can summon what's called a Phantom Companion (or a friendly Esseling) to aid you in battle against hostile Esselings in the overworld. There are different types of these Phantom Companions that each have their own unique abilities to contribute in battle, so you can try out different strategies.
Even better, now that Momo can help out in combat as well, it gives you even more of an edge if you find yourself facing off against tougher foes.
8 Construction
Build the Perfect Getaway!
Construction is admittedly still somewhat of a mixed bag in terms of its overall mechanics and how complex or tedious they can get at times. However, the addition of house building to Infinity Nikki opened up a lot of doors, in all senses, in terms of what players can craft from scratch. Furthermore, it's also provided a cozy niche for the players who personally favor gameplay suited to crafting and building rather than combat, puzzles, and other more fast-paced activities.
Giving Nikki and Momo an intricately customized abode to come home to after a long day of exploration is honestly a really nice touch to the game as a whole. Not only that, it opens even more opportunities for those who enjoy doing photoshoots with various fashionable looks. This way, you can capture photos with settings catered exactly the way you want them without having to find something close enough in locales around Wishfield or Itzaland.
Granted, as this ability expands into other avenues of construction in Itzaland, namely with helping the local Shroomlings build drink shops and bath houses, it still does need to iron out a few kinks and could make things a bit more streamlined. That way, players who normally don't dabble in building massive structures with lots of details and fixtures don't feel too intimidated by trying it out.
7 Bug Catching (Sweet Waltz)
Catch Even More Critters!
The Bug-Catching ability is another default one that's been around since the game's release, and you can unlock it super early in the main storyline. As its name suggests, you can use it to catch all types of bugs in Miraland's various biomes that can then be used to help craft different fashionable looks. The ability itself has you utilize a traditional bug net to swipe up colorful critters, which is usually reliable enough outside of other methods of item collecting.
However, a newer outfit has helped kick things up a notch in terms of collecting bugs more efficiently. Specifically, the Sweet Waltz ability outfit that dropped during the landmark 2.0 update that first introduced us to Itzaland. On top of it being incredibly cute, this ability is an updated version of bug-catching that allows you to swipe up multiple bugs in one go, rather than having to do it one by one.
So anytime you find yourself on a big bug-catching errand, this fashionable upgrade can definitely come in handy. Even better, unlike certain other outfits, this can be used in any region.
6 Gigantification
Being the Size of a Behemoth has its Benefits
Gigantification was also introduced alongside Itzaland in the 2.0 season of Infinity Nikki, and essentially it functions as the polar opposite of the Shrinking ability. Using it by way of the Forest Folk ability outfit allows Nikki to suddenly grow roughly to the size of a Behemoth. While it may seem like it's just for show, this ability actually has a lot of different uses rolled into one.
To start, having that added height allows you to easily climb onto places that would otherwise be out of reach at your normal size. However, you can also use it to stun actual Behemoths via its unique roar skill, allowing you to quickly get through its territory unscathed when needed (though the Sound of Leaves outfit is arguably better in this department).
Furthermore, you can use it to sprint and cover ground extremely quickly, on par with a mount at maximum speed. While sprinting, you can also charge into breakable walls and boulder piles to break them apart and reveal treasures or hidden passages. Initially, these features are relatively limited by the duration of your Gigantification Energy bar that displays while you're transformed. However, if you invest in the Gigantification nodes on the Heart of Infinity grid, you can make them all virtually limitless, allowing you to stay as tall as a tower for as long as you need or want to.
It all makes what sounds like a gimmicky ability on paper actually one of the game's most practical abilities to date, albeit only in Itzaland. However, if abilities like these eventually no longer stay region-locked, their value would only go up.

5 Sticky Claw
If You Can't Fly, Then Grapple Your Way Up!
On top of Itzaland being an impressively fun region to explore, its unique set of abilities are definitely nothing to scoff at either. Yet another ability that released with 2.0's debut that is undeniably one of my personal favorites is the Sticky Claw. This ability functions as a grappling hook to help Nikki traverse vast or otherwise hard-to-reach areas with ease. Anywhere you see the little orange reticle icon pop up, you can grapple to it.
I would argue that it's even better than the Abandoned District's floating ability. After all, you're not bound by a constantly-depleting usage gauge and can more easily control where you go and how far. Even better, you can stay hooked to a grapple point and linger there for as long as you need to before you continue onward.
Apart from mounts or Gigantification's sprint, I would say that this is hands down one of the most reliable ways to get around the game's environments, and I can only hope that one day we'll be able to grapple around the world of Miraland as a whole.
4 Animal Grooming (Enchanted Encounter)
With a Swish and Flick of the Wrist!
Animal Grooming is yet another classic ability in Infinity Nikki that you get acquainted with from near the beginning of the story. It's what helps you gather various types of materials for crafting outfits while also leaving the animals feeling fresh and shiny afterward, so it's a win-win.
However, with an often constant need for more materials for crafting outfits or construction supplies, grooming one animal at a time can feel a bit tedious after a while, even with the grooming cutscenes being skippable. Thankfully, that's where an upgraded version of the grooming outfit comes in. The Enchanted Encounter outfit that debuted during the 1.6 Season not only gave us serious and rather timely Glinda vibes (let's face it), but it also brought a way to make grooming even the fluffiest of animals so much easier.
Upon unlocking the entire outfit, you then get access to the Fairy: Animal-Grooming ability, which allows you to groom entire flocks of animals with a literal wave of your wand. This not only makes the process of gathering groomed materials so much less time-consuming, but it's by far the most whimsical and magical way to do it.
3 Forest Ripple
Embrace Your Green Thumb with a Simple Tap
Speaking of gathering lots of valuable materials at once, yet another outfit (and by far one of my favorites, aesthetically) that has since proven its worth in banner pulls many times over is the Forest Ripple outfit. The Infinity Nikki community went absolutely crazy for this banner during the 2.1 Season a few months ago, and rightfully so. Not only does it feature one of the most eloquently designed looks seen to date, with a set of beautiful wings and "shoes" that essentially augment your legs into something truly befitting of a forest fairy, but the ability that comes with it is truly among the best in the game.
The ability in question is Flourish Walk, which actually has two pivotal features to it that work hand-in-hand. First, activating Flourish Walk allows you to automatically gather all plants in the area with a literal tap of your finger. Each of those taps means that you can potentially gather dozens of materials in a matter of moments, without having to physically run to each plant one by one. You can even do this at your Home to effortlessly harvest everything you've planted.
It gets even better, though. Flourish Walk also gives you the ability to "re-mature" the plants you just picked one time, allowing you to gather them all once more for twice the materials. So if you ever find yourself in need of a hefty amount of plants for outfit pieces or other constructs, Forest Ripple makes the gathering process about as simple as it gets.
2 Mount Riding (Unicorn's Vow)
A Childhood Dream Come True
Mount Riding is a feature that's gradually becoming more of a norm in Infinity Nikki, and we've finally graduated from the local bicycle rentals to some truly glamorous ways of getting around Miraland. A prime example of this is, without a doubt, the majestic and delightfully iridescent unicorn mount that comes courtesy of the Dreamtime Bestowed outfit from the 2.3 Season.
This particular season featured perhaps the cutest and sweetest aesthetic in the game so far, transforming half of Spira into a literal wonderland of sweets. Not only that, the primary banner featured an outfit that's perhaps best described as a pastel-themed Sailor Moon homage that the community clamored for from the first hours of launch. The sheer amount of Sailor Moon-inspired looks from players that followed was a spectacle in itself.
However, the true spotlight of this ability outfit goes, of course, to its ability. Called Unicorn's Vow: Mount, it allows you to summon an absolutely adorable unicorn that you can use to not only run around, but also fly. Not floating or gliding, but actual flying. Granted, it only lasts for a limited time before you descend, but with a relatively short cooldown, it's still every bit as useful as it should be. Not only that, but you can also have your beloved unicorn follow you around as you explore, meaning you don't have to constantly re-summon it.
If all that weren't enough, the unicorn is also not region-locked. You can ride it across the meadows of Wishfield as well as Itzaland. This all makes this particular banner and outfit one that's pretty hard to beat in terms of transportation abilities.
1 Archery (Purification)
Nikki Gains Dexterity!
Finally, at the heart of it all, Nikki's most important and fundamental ability (besides dressing in all the best fashion) is Purification. For each season that took us across various areas of Wishfield, the Purification ability remained largely unchanged. Sure, you could augment the style of it thanks to various Fragrances that could be crafted with recipes found in different caves around the map. However, the actual method of purifying stayed the same.
As a breath of fresh air, that's all changed with Itzaland's debut and the introduction of the Archery purification ability. This is the first ability outfit you unlock upon entering the region of Itzaland itself, and it's an impressive innovation on how purification can be used. Not just against run-of-the-mill Esselings but also against obstacles and item retrievals.
If nothing else, it helps Purification feel more satisfying and efficient to use with a quick flurry of arrows. It definitely makes Realm of the Dark trials feel less tedious to get through, and you can amplify the ability further via the Heart of Infinity grid, along with a choice of different bows to use that each have their own unique set of features.
