Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, an upcoming remake of the original Tomb Raider game, just got an unceremonious drop of new screenshots thanks to PlayStation. Courtesy of a quickly removed Amazon listing, it also just got a release date, which sure sounds like something that you’d expect developer Crystal Dynamics to have said something about if it was meant to come out when it did. That’s especially true since the date is next year, much later than the game’s originally projected 2026 release.
Amazon’s listing indicated that Legacy of Atlantis is coming out on February 10, 2027. Given that Amazon is publishing the game, I would be surprised if it had bad info on when the game is coming out. The listing also included the contents found within its $70 deluxe edition, which is mostly just cosmetics, but also a “post-launch DLC story pack.”
The odd drop of information with zero fanfare has folks wondering if Legacy of Atlantis might make an appearance at tonight’s State of Play presentation where, thus far, only Insomniac’s Wolverine game is confirmed to be making an appearance. So maybe we’ll know for sure if the remake has slipped into next year before the end of the night.
This hypothetical delay does raise questions about the also-in-development Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which is supposed to launch next year. Could it have also been pushed, or are Lara Croft fans getting a double dose in 2027?
