Fulfill orders as quickly as you’re able; sort eggs from your rotating inventory into temporarily available baskets in order to accumulate points and prevent the loss of reputation. The static camera angle and simple premise ensure Jeffrey Eggstein can be played with only the mouse, and the player must rely on their precision, quick decision-making and reflexes to perform well. Lose too much reputation and be forever disposed of.

The gameplay loop is simple but extremely creative. It follows a structure somewhat similar to FNAF, but with a much broader progression of mechanics since Jeffrey Eggstein features many more stages. It’s a very difficult game, to the point that an easy mode was added so players can experience the story without the same level of challenge. A playthrough takes less than two hours, and even on easy mode Jeffrey Eggstein still manages to create a strong sense of tension, especially toward the end.

As for the subject matter, expect themes including human trafficking, child abuse, cannibalism, concealment of corpses, destruction of evidence (with particular emphasis on that), and suicide (or implied homicide, much like in real life). These topics are presented subtly, while still making it abundantly clear what kind of monster the real Eggstein was. Big E’s back in action!
