After Princess Mononoke graced IMAX screens last March, another of Studio Ghibli and Hayao MIyazaki's best films will be shown in IMAX next month. Remastered in 4K resolution, Kiki's Delivery Service will play exclusively in IMAX theaters across the US and Canada beginning March 13 for a limited time.

Based on Eiko Kadono's 1985 novel of the same name, Kiki's Delivery Service follows the young witch Kiki as she leaves home as part of her witch training. Along with her talking cat Jiji, she lands in a new town and starts up a courier service for work, making new friends along the way. It's a contemplative film, exploring adolescent loneliness and creative ruts through the lens of a witch who's just trying to get by.

The IMAX announcement also comes with a gorgeous new poster for the film, seen above. It's a piece of concept art from Kiki's Delivery Service animation director and Whisper of the Heart director Yoshifumi Kondo.

While you can catch Ghibli films in theaters during Studio Ghibli Fest each year, you can't always catch them in 4K and IMAX. Tickets are on sale now, and Kiki's will be shown in IMAX for one week only, so grab them while you can. You can catch it in both Japanese, with English subtitles, or dubbed in English.
