Annabelle may have some new competition
Graphic: Polygon / Photos: MattelIt was only a matter of time before toy companies brought in the big guns. And by big guns, I mean Rumi, Zoey, and Mira from Huntr/x, the fictional band at the center of Sony Animation and Netflix's chart-topping hit, KPop Demon Hunters.
To say that KPop Demon Hunters is popular is an understatement. It remains Netflix's most-watched movie of all time after beating the record previously held by the 2021 action comedy Red Notice, starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gal Gadot. Over 200 days after its release, nothing else Netflix has offered even comes close.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that, even seven months after the film's release, KPDH remains a hot commodity. It's no wonder, then, that two global giants, Mattel and Hasbro, have been hard at work producing toys and accessories that will appeal to kids across the globe. One of the first KPop Demon Hunters products came from Hasbro: a Monopoly Deal board game set released on Jan. 1.
However, not one to be outdone by its fellow "co-master" toy licensee, Mattel has revealed its own line-up of Huntr/x merch. This includes Fashion & Collectible dolls of Huntr/x, action figures that showcase Rumi and Jinu from Saja Boys battling it out, Fisher Price Little People Collector figures of Huntri/x and the Saja Boys, Polly Pocket time capsules, and, my personal favorite, UNO KPop Demon Hunters. Nothing quite says UNO like KPop Demon Hunters.
While the majority of its line-up has been announced for release in Fall 2026, the exception is the American Girls dolls from Huntr/x, which, uh, look as terrifying as one would expect babies to look when wielding swords and making a face that suggests they're five seconds away from breaking into songs.
Uncanny as they might be, these 18-inch dolls are surely a must-have for KPop Demon Hunter fans in the right age demographic. Though, at a price of $165 each, anyone hoping to get the whole Huntr/x set either has to settle with the idea of their favorite band member going solo, or have deep pockets.
Regardless of price, KPop Demon Hunter fans will have to wait a while before they can get their hands on the American Girls dolls, as they're set to ship by November 2026. Hasbro and Mattel are both risking a lot on a franchise that, arguably, is only losing its value as time goes on (at least until the sequel arrives). But considering KPop Demon Hunters continuing popularity, it might be a risk that pays off.
