KPop Demon Hunters returns to theaters next week, and tickets are practically free

I try my best to be a good dad. So when my 11-year-old daughter wants to see a movie that I have no interest in — like, A Minecraft Movie — I usually suck it up and get us some tickets. That said, because KPop Demon Hunters was a streaming thing, I was able to sidestep that one while my kid went nuts for it.

Of course, KPop Demon Hunters didn't stay a streaming thing. The movie became a phenomenon on Netflix after it debuted in June 2025, getting hundreds of millions of views on the streamer. It was so successful that Netflix even put the movie into theaters for select days in August and then again at the end of October.

Still, I managed to keep the news of the theatrical releases from my non-smartphone-having kid, but now Regal Cinemas is making it way harder for me to continue my wholesale avoidance of KPop Demon Hunters.

For the last several summers, Regal Cinemas has run a promotion it calls "Regal Summer Movie Express" where tickets to select family movies cost just one dollar for each attendee, regardless of age. The movies run at 11:00 am Monday through Thursday at all of the hundreds of Regal locations, and they feature modern movies like A Minecraft Movie and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as well as classics like The Sandlot and Muppet Treasure Island. To sweeten the pot, Regal also offer discounted snacks and drinks.

Within that lineup is KPop Demon Hunters, which will run from Monday, June 15 until Thursday, June 18. It's also listed as "A sing-along event," which, for me, elevates the movie from "I don't want to see this" to "over my dead body" levels. Still, when it's just a dollar, it's going to be hard for me to continue to say "no."
