Larian Unveals Divinity With A Brutal Trailer

2 weeks ago 9

Covering the video games industry since 2017, with experience in news, articles, lists, and reviews (and I blame The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for that).

If you are a fan of RPGs and want a third-person version: Tayná Garcia is a Brazilian journalist (but you can call her Tay) who ended up working with video games after finishing Zelda: Majora's Mask when she was a kid. With more than eight years of experience in the segment, she has been an assistant editor at Jovem Nerd and is currently a contributor at DualShockers and a writer for gaming magazines for Editora Europa. Oh, and she may like Hideo Kojima a bit too much.

As expected, The Game Awards 2025 ceremony was packed with announcements and stunning reveals for upcoming games. However, one specific moment caused fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 to jump out of their seats (and we certainly include ourselves in that excited group!).

Larian Studios, the team behind the highly acclaimed RPG, took everyone by surprise with the full reveal of their next title with a cinematic reveal that is still giving me goosebumps.

Larians New RPG Is Set To Be Their Biggest Ever

During the gaming event, the developers responsible for Baldur’s Gate 3 officially announced Divinity, their brand-new next RPG, which is set in the beloved world of Rivellon.

The reveal trailer is lengthy and incredibly brutal, showcasing a small, mysterious civilization seemingly performing a cult ritual that quickly descends into a complete bloodbath (a vivid sign that Larian is not holding back on intensity).

You can check the brutal spectacle for yourself in the video right below:

According to the announcement’s press release, the upcoming game is even more ambitious than any Larian title before it and aims to deliver “an RPG with greater breadth & depth than ever before”. That claim alone is certainly enough to get all of us incredibly excited, right?

They also guarantee that players won't need to have experienced the previous games in the franchise (Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2) to jump in and, more importantly, understand everything that happens in the new Divinity.

Baldur's Gate 3 Hotfix Finally Features Native Steam Deck Build

A new hotfix for Baldur's Gate 3 has finally introduced a native Steam Deck version, one that runs significantly better than the current port.

“Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled Divinity. We’re ready to bring everything we’ve done previously into one place. This marks the beginning of something with more breadth, depth, and intimacy than anything we’ve created before”, says Swen Vincke, founder and game director of Larian, in the press release. “We’ve been building toward this moment ever since we took our fate into our own hands. This is the Divinity we’ve always wanted to make and you're going to have loads of fun with it”.

Oh, and in a fun twist, it was also revealed that Divinity was the culprit behind the mysterious statue that had appeared in front of the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, where The Game Awards 2025 took place, teasing the reveal all along.
