For too long, Italian plumber and video game superhero Mario Mario (his government name) has hogged the spotlight, while his brother Luigi sits in the background, even though he's the world's leading ghost hunter. Finally, though, it looks like Luigi is about to reach for the brass ring that will make him the premier Mario brother. And we can all thank Lego for that.

Nintendo posted a teaser for an upcoming Mario Kart Lego set on social media and, while Mario is front-and-center, we also see Luigi nudging his way into the frame. After all, he's a Super Mario Brother, too. There's no reason Mario should get all the love. If Lego is smart, they'll also include the ability to give Luigi his infamous death stare.

We don't know anything about the set thus far, other than it will include Mario, Luigi, and their karts. It should also be noted that this is labeled as a set for adults, rather than children. We can only assume that means Luigi has some pretty evil intentions in mind for his brother. Alternatively, like other entries in Lego's Adults Welcome line, the set is meant primarily as a display piece, rather than one you should play with.

That said, the teaser from Nintendo certainly has us interested in racing Lego karts around the house. How long before Lego Smart Play develops enough to turn these karts into RC cars?

Currently, we have no release information or set details about this new collaboration. However, in the coming months, Lego has new sets from Star Wars, Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and more.
