When the villains show up (or an avalanche starts), the pace explodes. The only way out is through. Professor Raventhorpe’s “Anytime Elevator” hurtles you through both time AND space. In this machine, the floor numbers map to history in LIFTED. Hit the button for Floor 1712, align the map to the Caribbean, and you arrive in the Year 1712. Right in the middle of pirate-infested Tortuga! But watch out: while the Elevator gets the time right, it rarely lands exactly where you expected. Prof. R is still working out the kinks…

This is a puzzle platformer. It’s not asking a lot of the player. Press jump at the right time, double jump, wall jump… but nothing that’s truly challenging. There are some scenes where movement and well-timed jumps or ducks are required, along with plenty of climbing and swinging sections, but LIFTED isn’t trying to stress anyone out. Instead, it’s designed to ease players into a relaxing flow state while they enjoy the wonderful scenery and story. And that’s where it really shines. The story is adorable, and the art is fantastic. It has a kind of Indiana Jones meets Back to the Future vibe.

The Professor and the rest of the cast are equally memorable, and the voice acting across the board is excellent. This is a wholehearted adventure through historical settings featuring great characters like Blackbeard and a larger-than-life Italian companion. The humor lands somewhere between classic cartoons and more mature comedy, evoking a nostalgic feel while remaining enjoyable for older players. It’s a great balance. LIFTED is a wonderful little game. It’s hard to say exactly how long it is after only the first couple of stages in Egypt and Blackbeard’s Hideout, but it’s simply a joy to play. It’s especially well suited to unwinding after a long day, offering a light, relaxing experience when something more demanding just isn’t appealing.
