That brings the total for the first half of 2026 to 12 decks in total

The Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany kicked off Jan. 27, and Wizards of the Coast took the opportunity to introduce the world to some of the products that'll be available as part of April's Secrets of Strixhaven and June's Marvel Super Heroes sets. Between the two sets, there will be a total of nine preconstructed Commander decks. (If we add that to Lorwyn Eclipsed's two decks and TMNT's one due out in March, that's a total of 12 for the first half of 2026.)

An exclusive preview from GameSpot published Jan. 27 outlines all the products that will be included with both sets, and it confirms recent leaks related to the four Marvel Super Heroes Commander decks. Here are those four decks:

  • Avengers Assemble (white-blue-red) – Captain America and Nick Fury featured with "grow your ranks" and "equipment and counters" noted as the core mechanics
  • Wakanda Forever (white-green) – Black Panther headlines with a focus on powering up with artifacts and "reign as the Monarch"
  • The Fantastic Four (white-blue-red-green) – All four team members can play as the Commander in a deck emphasizing noncreature spells and protection fields
  • Doom Prevails (blue-black-red) – Doctor Doom headlines with Loki as a presumable alternate Commander with "connive for power" and "drain life" as core mechanics

December's preview livestream for Marvel Super Heroes confirmed that a Fantastic Four deck was coming. At the time, we saw each of those four Commander cards and received hints that the deck would focus on noncreature spells. But this marks the first official reveal of the box art. Blue-black-red is Wizards' go-to color combo for villain-forward Commander decks. And this is the first time we've seen connive since 2024's Modern Horizons 3. Captain America headlining a deck that's literally red, white, and blue is a little on-the-nose. And a strategic on +1/+1 counters and equipment for a deck full of heroes has similarly been a go-to for Wizards when spotlighting heroes. The two most popular decks from the Final Fantasy crossover focus on counters and equipment, respectively.

Wakanda Forever is the real surprise here, and not just because there's a single Marvel character on the box, but because green-white is historically not associated with the monarch mechanic or artifacts all that much. If anything, green is typically anti-artifact. So that deck sticks out as the unique one in the bunch.

Before Marvel Super Heroes, however, we'll be getting five different two-color Commander decks for Secrets of Strixhaven, with each color combo representing one of the five colleges at the magical school.

  • Lorehold Spirit (white-red) – Commander: Quintorius, Strategy: Create Spirits as cards leave your graveyard, and then buff them in order to deal massive damage.
  • Prismari Artistry (blue-red) Blue/Red – Commander: Rootha, Strategy: Cast powerful and expensive spells, while also creating massive Elementals with each cast.
  • Quandrix Unlimited (blue-green) – Commander: Zimone, Strategy: Flood the board with fractals, hydras, and other creatures with variable stats and pummel the opponent.
  • Silverquill Influence (white-black) – Commander: Killian, Strategy: Use Auras and other enchantments to make opposing creatures fight each other while you draw cards and grow more powerful.
  • Witherbloom Pestilence (black-green) – Commander: Dina, Strategy: Create pests and strategically sacrifice them to gain life, draw cards, and drain your opponent before they can react.

The only previous full sets to receive five preconstructed Commander decks are 2022's Streets of New Capenna and 2025's Tarkir: Dragonstorm. While this may seem like a bold choice for Wizards of the Coast, Secrets of Strixhaven is one of the two biggest in-universe sets of the year, with the other being Reality Fracture in October. The majority of all Commander precons usually have three colors, especially in recent years, so to see an emphasis on two-color decks is a nice change of pace for the game at large. Each of these really lean into the types of magic taught in each Strixhaven college.

Aside from the decks, both sets will have play and collector boosters, along with bundles and draft night bundles. Secrets of Strixhaven also gets a new Codex Bundle with six play boosters, two collector boosters, and a two-card codex booster pack containing two of six possible alternate-art foil versions of popular artifacts: Sol Ring and the Talismans of Conviction, Creativity, Curiosity, Hierarchy, and Resilience. All six generate different kinds of mana, with each Talisman linked to the colors associated with the color combos of the five Strixhaven colleges. So far at least, it seems like the Codex Bundle is the only way to get these special reprints.

Much like with the Spider-Man set, Marvel Super Heroes gets a special gift bundle with a collector booster, promo cart with exclusive art, and typical bundle contents like play booster packs, foil lands, and a spindown die. The Marvel set also gets two scene boxes: Heroes United and Villains Unleashed. Each comes with three play boosters and unique cards that together make a panoramic scene. These could very well be a mix of legendary creatures and other kinds of spells, but that remains to be seen. There's also the return of jumpstart packs, which allow you to combine any two to make a quick 40-card deck for easy rip-and-play.
