As she rejoins the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Daredevil: Born Again's second season next spring, Jessica Jones is also returning to a starring role in Marvel Comics. Polygon can exclusively announce that Marvel will publish Alias: Red Band next year. It will be a five-issue miniseries with the first issue kicking things off on March 11, 2026.

Written by Sam Humphries (New Avengers) with art by Geraldo Borges (Thunderbolts), Alias: Red Band finds Jessica Jones tracking down a serial killer in Hell's Kitchen. To successfully take the killer down, she'll have to team with Typhoid Mary, the supervillain who often finds herself battling Daredevil. "How the hell are they going to survive five minutes together, much less track down a serial killer?" Humphries tells Polygon via email. "Maybe they could be best friends forever if we gave them five issues of couples therapy, but that wouldn't be very 'red band,' would it?"

Next year will mark 25 years since Jessica Jones first debuted in Alias from writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Gaydos. A former superhero, Alias found Jones as a private investigator taking on a variety of cases in New York's criminal underbelly. In the years since Alias ended, Jones has gone on to star in The Pulse and Jessica Jones as well as miniseries like 2022's The Variants.

"No one does it like Jessica Jones. She's sharp, bitterly funny, and tenacious as hell. Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos snapped when they created her, a totally singular character with a unique POV on the superhero game," Humphries says. "I'm excited to push the limits of the kind of cases Jessica Jones can investigate, and how far she'll go to solve them."

With the Red Band branding, this new iteration of Alias will be able to include some R-rated moments, like the Max line the original series debuted in was able to. "It's a rare opportunity to bring her closer to her Max origins," Humphries said. "Artist Geraldo Borges is on absolute fire drawing some pretty terrible blood and gore. Plus, I've been waiting to swear in a Marvel comic for years. Christmas has come early for me!"

Alias: Red Band #1 releases March 11, 2026. Check out the official description below, as well as a gallery of covers, including the main cover from David Mack (who did covers for the original Alias) as well as variants from Elena Casagrande and Jeehyung Lee.
