Marvel Comics is preparing a major shake-up for its most formidable team. On Friday, it revealed its next Avengers lineup, including five heroes who will join forces in the wake of this summer's Avengers: Armageddon event. Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), and Wolverine (Logan) form the team in November's Avengers #1. The announcement hinted there are more characters still to come, but readers will have to wait to learn the full roster.

The motto for the Avengers is usually "Earth's Mightiest Heroes," but this iteration is branded as "Earth's Mightiest Survivors," hinting that some familiar faces may not make it out of Avengers: Armageddon unscathed. That event series finds some of Marvel's iconic heroes banding together to face the Red Hulk (Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross), who has taken over Doctor Doom's country of Latveria.

Armageddon is written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz. Zdarsky will also write the new Avengers ongoing, and he'll be reunited with artist Marco Checchetto on it. Together the pair produced one of the best modern-day Daredevil runs.

"After what happens in Avengers: Armageddon, this lineup is angry as hell and ready to avenge," Zdarsky said in a news release. "Avengers is a book that should lead the Marvel Universe, where big things happen and surprises keep hitting."

Specific plot details have been kept under wraps, likely because Marvel doesn't want to spoil too much more of the Armageddon event in promoting the new Avengers series. The news release specified "Earth itself needs to be avenged" and that this Avengers lineup "assemble[s] to protect a broken world that has more reason than ever not to trust them," so expect things to get hairy in the summer's Armageddon event.

The opening issue of Avengers: Armageddon goes on sale June 10. The new Avengers ongoing begins in November when its first issue gets released Nov. 4.
